ZL1 Spare Tire Kit

I was asked to post this info. I don't have first hand knowledge of
this company, but they have a spare tire kit that works with the
big brakes (front or rear) on our cars.

This is what I see Mlee driving around in Houston. He painted his 4 rims orange. All true folks.

Looks like it needs a 2” spacer to clear our front brakes. So we would need a proper spacer, adapter, and/or longer wheel studs. I wonder if this company makes a hub centric bolt on spacer to adapt the spare?

May go with.

Any other options folks are going with for a spare?

Yeah...I saw that, but what is it? No pictures or description. A 2” spacer obviously won’t work safely with stock studs, so I’m hoping it’s a nice bolt on hubcentric adapter with its own studs.

Couldn’t you just swap a rear to the front if you have a flat in the front? I know the rears are wider, but it should be enough for a temporary fit, right?

The rear wheel will sit about 1.4” further inboard vs a stock front wheel (6.29” backspace vs 7.69” backspace). No way that will work.

It would require something like this to work safely:

It takes up about as much room as a 20” aluminum wheel (20x8.5) that doesn’t need a spacer front or rear and not a temp tire. I carry a full sized in my car. Get three friends and buy a cheap take off set and each have a wheel / tire. Any typical GM pinchweld jack like 04-06 GTO, Gen 5 Camaro, etc. work and fits into foam holder in our trunk.

One son at a time and I go on longer distance road trips. I’ll take a real wheel and tire any day for that. Throw our day bags in the trunk with it or back seat. Heck, cell coverage is lacking too on some of our drives. I wouldn’t worry about it if mostly local. Been 20+ years since I had a leak I could not use a plug kit (in each car) to get me home.

Please correct me, could we not just have the front smallest tire/wheel for the ZL1 and fold down the back seat and put it in the trunk that way? Maybe it would still be too big. The smallest I see is 265/35/19
