If only GM would design the vettes for guys over 6’ I’m 6’3 and drove a vette for the first time in ‘67. It was my buddies brand new Goodwood green vert. Right knee hits console and can't be fully extended and as soon as I let the clutch out my left knee hit the round chrome door knob ball and the door opened Needless to say my buddy sh*t a brick and that was the last time he let me behind the wheel. FF to 2012 when I go to order my 5th gen ...it was my retirement gift to myself There was a C6 on the floor and as I always wanted a vette since the '63 Sting Ray came out I'm thinking just maybe ??? Got behind the wheel and nope same space limitation, with seat all the way back my right leg was cramped against the console ...well at least there’s no more round door knob. Same with C7. Maaaaybe with the C8 I can finally get that vette that I always wanted just won't be a mid-engine as no manual trans

And oh yea then there’s the baby vette ... the Opel GT remember them? Again a buddy let me drive his. It was a challenge just to get behind the wheel. Couldn’t press the clutch all the way to the floor because my size 14 sneakers overlaped the silver dollar size clutch pedal and wound up depressing the WW floor button that was next to the clutch. Couldn’t position my left foot on the other side of the clutch pedal because it would overlap onto the brake pedal. Needless to say I didnt drive it very far and that was the first and last time I ever drove one. BTW sometimes I even have pedal clearance issues on my 5th gen with certain footware.

Sounds too loud to be a v6

Loudness doesn't really have anything to do with number of cylinders

Wow. Now this is the C8.R, so I expect to sound different (louder!) than production, but can it also have a different engine?

To me this sounds like (in order of my guess of most likely):

1) TT-V6

2) Flat plane crank V8

3) Super high revving small turbo V8

Welp, if Is a v6, then that's best sound that I heard from a v6 car or race car in my life.

Whether it’s a V6 or V8, it doesn’t sound anywhere as good as the C7.R.

Judging by sound it could be a big V6 (recalling old modded 4.3L Syclones), but I'm thinking it's either 2 or 3. Clearly a high-revving motor--likely small stroke. You can hear it take forever to run out a gear, and during up/down shifts the pitch changes instantly but minimally--that suggests to me the trans has small gear steps and the engine makes no torque. The latter is obviously an exaggeration, but I don't think you'll see approximately-equal HP and torque numbers that we're used to seeing.

I still think it sounds more like a turbo V6. You guys need to listen to a little bit of this Ford GT video. Sounds similar to me

(not saying I'm convinced it IS a V6 in the C8.R, just saying)
