Wheel help please

23 LT1, new to me, me new to 6th gen platform.
Bought the car last weekend. On my 5th gen, I have 20x10 square setup (6th gen 1LE gloss black) with 275 40 20 tires all around. All 4 wheels are ET 23 offset.
After work, I tried swapping my LT1 wheels and tires with my above described wheels and tires. The backs fit, but uncomfortably close to the wheel well liners, and on the fronts, the 275 40s were almost rubbing the strut. All that hurrying and back breaking for no satisfaction.

Here's where I need help please. I'm assuming GM is too cheap to create different wheel well openings for different models. Keeping in mind I have a LT1, would 285 30 20s on my 20x10 +23 offset wheels help solve my issue? Can't stand the oe 245s all around on the car

Thank you

It sounds like your main issue is more the tire size more than the wheels (although others may be able to better comment on if 20 x10 +23 offset should work well w/275s).
The 275/40/20 size you tried are much taller ~4% and ~1" taller then stock as you found out. Check https://tiresize.com/calculator/
However if you get tire size 275/35/20 they are very close match to your LT1 stock 245/40/20 (and are SS rear tire size) and I think should work well if you want to run a square setup with 275's.

With 10" wheels you could easily go 285 or 295 without issue... Definitely want 35 (or even 30) profile, 40's will be way too tall... I have 285/30's on my fronts (10" wheel) and 305/30's on my rears (11" wheel)...

If I were you and you wanted a square setup with 10" wide wheels, 295/30's would be my go-to... Compared to the ridiculous 245's GM put on the back of the LT1, you'll definitely gain some serious traction... (I went from the SS 275's out back to the SS 1LE 305's out back and it made a huge difference in traction)...

The rears will need a spacer, doesn't it look wide up front and sucked in, in the back?

proper move on the tires, those others were way too tall as you already knew...

Just FYI, If you deviate too much from the stock tire dias, especially the stock dia ratio front to rear, you are going to have torque management issues.

The torque management system calculations rely on knowing the correct tire dias. Even with the nannies off you'll get power cut under various conditions because it thinks the wheels/tires are doing weird things. Messes with ABS too I've heard, but not experienced myself. But I've seen first hand the tq mgmt issues.

I wont restate all the info already out there, just be sure to do the research.

Thank you. Any idea on the rear spacer mentioned above?

Maybe I’m wrong, and please correct me, but 20x10 +23 in all 4 corners with 285 30 zr20s should be close enough?

I can write chapters about 5th gen Camaros and C7 vettes, but I’m a noob to the 6th gen platform. All help is appreciated

This will work, the only minor snag is your speedo will be off by 2-3 mph already at 60.

Why a square setup and not staggered with wider rears, as the Camaro team originally intended for V8 Camaros, though?

EDIT: as to why people suggest spacers, see the suspension clearance info at this page: https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?whe...scl=2in&sr=0in (screenshot attached). I'm not a big fan of spacers, and think you'll be able to fit the rears without them, it'll still be a tiny bit tucked in, but less than the stock combo that comes with the LT1 trim.

Thank you arpad. Now it makes sense. As for why square 285 setup, I’m planning on putting miles on this car. Want to be able to rotate tires to extend the life.

That is a very cool website to get detailed wheel/tire combo spec info - Thanks!

Just curious - which tire model did you go with?
And post some pics when you get them mounted?
Good luck and think you will love the big difference vs the stock 245's!
