Tie your big dog if you have one to your catalytic converters!

Crazy stuff, but it will get worse. Be careful where you park.

just keep your vehicle close to the ground. thieves will move on to the neighboring trucks.

This happens quite frequently with Prius’s. The converters are very easy to remove. It is enough of an issue that there are many companies out there making anti theft plates and brackets for them.

How is this still happening, In Florida you can't salvage Catalytic Converters unless you can verify you have legal ownership of them. The salvage yards here make you show them a receipt of aftermarket exhausts or a replacement cat, on top of logging your information into a database.

Ha Ha that's what happened to me, crawled under my truck with a sawzall.
Gone in seconds.......this was a tundra cost 2400 for both oem or 900 aftermarket for both.....
When the price of a certain metal rises normally the thefts rise also.

Yeah, just a few people here and there. Possibly no one you know, though.

It is getting bad here in CA. Forced lock downs, high cost of living, immigration, high taxes, and tons of other great stuff. I would leave, but my kids are here and most of my real estate portfolio, which is doing quite nicely since it keeps going up due to the liberal politics here.

They keep screaming for more housing and the owners say not in my backyard and the environmentalists are like the sea turtles are dying. So we have homeless on every corner. I buy them a combo meal at the drive through since they come up to the car since they are hungry and some I give them a $20 since that is all I have in my wallet. Feel bad for them, but it is similar in HI. Probably more affordable if you were in AL or FL. Glad I have a long driveway and dogs.

This has been going on for lots of years. Obviously the years where more converters are stolen are the years where the metals inside are worth more. New and used car lots having been getting hit up in our area lately.
About 15 years ago I was helping a couple friends with their used car lot. Yep it got hit one night and about 30 or so vehicles were missing converters. Friggin thieves.

Yeah they have been stealing cats all over around me. When they get confronted by someone they will usually pull a gun. Car thefts are also way up. It went wild just after the Minneapolis riots

They're going to be really disappointed if they look under my car and see nothing but 3in pipe strapped to a set of headers.
