Shipping Wheels Into Canada

To my Canadian users on this site -- has anyone had experience ordering wheels (no tires) from a distributor in the states, were there duties collected that you had to pay on top?

**Will post on canadian forum as well but not nearly as much traffic there as this forum.

I have bought many sets of wheels over the past 15 years and always had them shipped to a warehouse on the border. Now I am fortunate that I live only 30 miles from the USA border. Most of the time I have picked up the wheels after I have been in the USA for more than 3 days so I could bring them back with out paying the taxes and duty. If you just go and pick up you would have to pay taxes and duty if the wheels are made anywhere else than Mexico or the USA.

Use a Company called Cross Border Pickups.
They have a warehouse in Niagara Falls and they bring over your 'stuff ' for a small fee.
You pay taxes on declared value. If there are duties it is usually only a few percentage points.
You can pick it up at their warehouse in Mississauga or Markham. I ordered a racing seat from Ireland' made in Italy' duty was 3%.
Used them many times. Easy peasy.
Look them up.
I would never ship direct to my house from U.S. You would be raped by shipping charges and so called Duties form UPS or Fed Ex. They pad their duty fees
Alot of companies shipp free if its in the lower 48

I have bought 2-3 sets of wheels and always had them shipped near the borders. Saves you a lot of headaches and you know exactly what you're going to pay.

Plus, since I am living near Ontario I can cross the borders there and simply pay 1 tax instead of 2. Another 10% saved.
