Are these towels made in China or Korea?

Hi Joe

They are made in China and are very high quality - superior to Chemical Guys and comparable to TRC Wizzard towels which are from both South Korea. I did an exhaustive search and received many samples that didn't make the cut. For the more promising ones, I distributed them to some of the most respected guys here on the detailing forum for their opinion, and the ones that passed that test are the ones being offered.

Regards,
Bill

I've never used a Chinese towel that compares to a Korean towel.

Chinese towels grab and hold and won't release stuff , and also have a grabbing effect when drawn across your skin.

A Korean made towel easily releases whatever they may have picked up with a gentle shake, and they also don't drag across your skin, but glide smooth.

Korean are much softer as well.

I have similar towels to these I use for interior wipedown of leather and hard plastics.

I wouldn't use these towels on paint.

Hi Joe
One of the testers had the same concern as you, but did a blind test and was surprised that they were made in China. This was the same guy that said they were comparable the Wizzards. I believe he said he preferred them to the Wizzards. When I get these in I can send a couple to you to try and then you can see for yourself.

Regards
Bill

I appreciate your offer, but I already have similar towels in 2 colors. Same GSM, same 70/30 blend, and same silk banding. I tried one of the Wizards and was not impressed with it.

I don't want to sound rude, and if I do, please excuse me. After using tons of different towels, for paint I use RC Eagle edgeless for compound/polish removal. These towels also excel with rinseless and waterless washes. They stay soft after hundreds of washes.

The RC Everest 1100 are fantastic for clay lube removal, drying, detail spray removal. Basically anything I used to use a waffle weave for. The knap on these pulls any stray dirt particles away from the surface deep in it's fibers, making it extremely safe on paint versus a waffle weave.

For sealant or wax removal, the Microfiber Madness Crazy Pile is in a league of it's own. Very little pressure is needed for buffing excess. I can't imagine a more perfect towel for this purpose. The softest towel I've ever used.

I'm a towel junkie and have tried everything I can get my hands on. If I were to compare this towel to others, they would have to be Chinese of same GSM and blend. Comparing to any of my "go to" towels wouldn't be an apples to apples comparison.

Also I have 20 of these in same GSM, blend, satin edging, and made in China. Someone else who doesn't have these would be better off getting them.

Hey Joe,

These tested out at 440GSM and have a deeper pile than the ones you mention - 0.05 cm vs 0.03 cm. At $2.50 per towel, they are a great buy! Believe me, it was a pain finding a manufacturer that met my specs - One even blatantly lied and sent me 80/20 towels.

Regards,
Bill

Here is a pic of one of towels I have 420 gsm. 70/30. Chinese made. The long knap is twice as long as the short.

The RC doesn't give length of knap on their website. Length of knap has nothing to do with quality of fibers used for manufacturing. Korean towels are always softer, and release dirt particles when washed much better then Chinese.

It's been my experience using Chinese towels, that over time they become rough to the touch, and also hold in dirt/sand, making them bad for polished paint.

I'm not saying these are a bad deal a $2.50 each. That's actually a good price. What I am saying is I wouldn't use these on paint.

And since I have 20 of these, 10 in yellow, 10 in grey, for interior use on non-delicate surfaces, I can't see any benefits from a knap that may be 1 or 2 tenths of a centimeter longer with the same fiber and blend.

Take one of these towels and drag it across your open palm, you will feel how it grabs your skin. If you have a really good Korean made towel it wont do this. It slides smoothly. A towel that grabs requires more pressure to use on paint then one that doesn't. Try a Microfiber Madness Crazy Pile against any towel. None are softer. But again your comparing a Rolls Royce to a Toyota Prius comparing a MMCP against a Chinese towel.

Hi Joe,

The benefit of a deeper pile allows it to pick up more dust and dirt particles getting it away from the paint, thus helping to avoid swirls and scratches. I use these on my black car and they are nice, and better than the previously mentioned Korean towels.

Thanks,
Bill

That benefit is lost when the towel retains part of the dirt after washing like Chinese made towels do. After several washes Chinese towels become rougher to the touch. This is unavoidable.

Good Korean towels release all the dirt in the wash, they also don't collect lint, as Chinese towels do.

My car is not garaged, outside 24/7, washed at least once a week, and using towels I mentioned, this is what my paint looks like in direct sunlight. I can 100% guarantee you that with repeated use, you will cause marring on your paint using these towels. Been there, done that.

Bill- your towels are fine. I've had them for two months, using them every couple days or something , and they're still very soft. Prob 30 washes....for the person here who is not a master detailer , and is going to use them on the weekend, these Are a good buy.

.No worries.

When you guys swirl up your paint using these cheap low quality towels, don't say I didn't warn you.

I'm not a master detailer, never claimed to be. But I did learn about microfiber towels from high end detailers I know. Not a single one would use these towels on polished paint. That's why I don't. I learned the hard way first.

Enjoy your swirls and spider scratches.

I challenge you to take one of these towels and drop it into a pile of leaves or mulch, it's going to grab so tightly that no matter how hard you shake it, it wont let go of what it picked up at all.

Take a high quality Korean towel and do the same thing. Within 1 or 2 shakes EVERYTHING will be gone.

Yes it is - The order has been placed, and I'm waiting for confirmation on turn-around.

If there is anyone still interested, I ordered some extras.

I would also like to thank everyone for the support I received via PM.

Thanks,
Bill
