Catch Can Help

I have had a catch can for a while now, someone said that the cold may freeze it and make it fill quicker so I drained it today after 2 thousand miles and about 1.5 months of below freezing temps (also why it has that crazy disgusting color) also thats defiantly a lot more then usual, during normal drains its like not even half that (and dark like normal used oil lol)

There was a slight bit of oil in both like the bottom of the lines right before they run into the can, is that normal? I assume it cant go all the way back up the line because they run down hill a little bit and well gravity I would think would say otherwise.

But look at much came out

I defiantly think thats not even close to fill up the can, but when I pulled off the hoses there were just a little bit laying in the end of tube (on the side that connects to the catch can) in both hoses but I dont think that would hurt anything , correct? And is it normal for that little bit to be laying there? and if I should look anywhere to make sure where should I look? thanks

If you understand the basic principle of how a CC works then this is no mystery....

They work off of condensation and vacuum. So when the weather is colder outside the can should in theory catch more by pass oil.

Nothing to worry about.

To answer your question, to as why there is more in there. Its condensation being created within the catch can and pcv system, then frozen or at least mixed with the oil in the catch can.

Yup. V6's seem to produce a lot more condensation than the V8s. My 1LT can drippings used to look really bad... with the V8, it just looks like dirty oil. You're okay.

I didn't even know what a catch can was until I joined this forum. I ordered one Friday, the one from Elite Engineering. With only 500 miles on the car it seemed like getting it when the car was still new was the best thing to do. And now I know what to look for when it's cold out.

Catch Can info please - got a '14 SS, it's just a fair weather/weekend toy, fixing to be a year old and has about 2100 miles on her. Sometimes while stopped at red lights I get a little smell of burnt oil - would installing a catch can help this?

Thanks
