Are camaro once made then sent to get there tops cut off?

Ordered a 2014 2SS/RS convert today. The manager stated once the car is made then its sent a couple blocks away to get the top cut off. Is this true? I thought the convert was designed to be a convert

No offense but that guy is an idiot. The vert is designed completely different.

Did he tell you all Camaros start out at V6's too and then get sent a couple blocks away to have 2 cylinders added?

Wow

Worst part is that it came from manager. Which obviously has no idea how a modern vert is made

Haha the very has a different chassis I believe making it a different setup. The trunk is smaller as well on a vert

One might think that GM would've highlighted the fact that they just saw the top off of the coupe in order to make it a "convertible" in their sales brochures. Maybe they only utilize this "new" manufacturing technique for the 2014 'vert? (perhaps THAT might also explain why there are so many "top problems" with the 5th Gen. 'vert???).

The 5th Gen. Camaro was specifically designed from the ground up with every intention of there being 5th Gen. convertible (rather than an after-thought to the coupe) when it was still being shown as a concept at auto shows and before the 1st MY 2010 Coupe hit the streets. http://www.autoblog.com/2011/08/10/2011-chevrolet-camaro-ss-convertible-review/

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/convertibles/1103_2011_chevrolet_camaro_convertible_test/viewall.html

It may be a good idea to read the forum(s) so that you become more knowledgeable about the 5th Gen. Camaro Convertible and to maybe help educate your salesperson, thereby hopefully preventing the next prospective 'vert owner from asking the same question (there's a lot of info out there. You just need to reach out and grab it).

Owning and driving a 5th Gen. Camaro Convertible is more than just "owning a car". It's a lifestyle!

BTW, when you pick up your 'vert, please make sure to post a lot of pics (lots of "voyeurs" here).

To convert a coupe to a convertible would be extremely costly. The interior is slightly different. The rear windows can be controlled by the driver's side door and the 3rd brake light is by the trunk, etc... it would be way too much work.
