What radar detector do you use?
Not sure this is the exact right place to post it but it makes the most sense to put it here as I'll get a wider input.
So what radar/laser detector do you use? And what did you pay? And your feedback? I'm thinking about investing in one here soon. Too many tickets lately.

Beltronics V8. Paid around 200 from BestBuy. Probably saved my butt a bunch of times. The only issue is with newer radar that the State Troopers around here run. I don't get as much warning with them. Usually up to a mile for older radars, and the newer ones can be a quarter of a mile sometimes. Other than that it picks up all radars and laser so it has been worth the money. If I had the cash I'd go Valentine One or Top of the line Passport though.

I've used a Passport 9500ix for the past 3 years. Paid $495, but probably cheaper now. Saved me many times, but the key is, don't drive like a maniac and expect it to save you. If you're going 10-15 over you're likely ok. Any faster and you're likely toast. In addition, the laser warning is just an audible that is telling you to find a safe place to pull over and get your ticket. Another feature is red light camera alert, which actually uses a database that you can update via download to a PC, then to the unit via USB. Realistically, the best defense you have is common sense.

Detector won't help with instant on radar and LIDAR. Speed of light is faster than your brake pedal.

My eyes. On long trips I give my copilot a pair of binos.

Done this. Anytime you're on the road, its a good time to break out the thermal binoculars.
