In this article....
https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/news...48168efd040ca7 It says.... GM showed its hand a little bit in the announcement. It stated that the sixth-gen small block will "strengthen our industry-leading lineup of full-size pickups and SUVs." That means we'll still be seeing V8-powered behemoths on the road for the foreseeable future. It didn't mention anything about the Corvette, Camaro, or other recipients of the engine, though. Keep in mind the C8 Corvette Stingray still receives a fifth-gen small block, the LT2. |

I'm all for EV's phased in over the next 50 years. But I hope they keep ICE muscle cars for the long term. And no EV Camaros. If it only has an electric engine with no thumping noise would it really be a Camaro?
They could make a sporty EV but they should call it something else, a whole new model line, with a cool futuristic name, but NOT contaminate the Camaro and especially Corvette brands.

Maybe there’s hope for a 7gen Camaro now. I won’t be getting rid of my 6 gen ZL1 though.

One thing that I think gets overlooked is motorsports. Chevrolet has been involved in motorsports since its inception almost. And the Camaro/Corvette has been involved in many racing series over the years. This commitment to racing could make it hard to completely drop ICE powertrains. While i think that in general, shifting the majority of drivers to EV is beneficial, there are definitely use cases for Gasoline/Diesel.

The only other vehicle that may benefit from this besides the trucks and full size SUV's will be Corvette. Last edited by ChevyRules; 01-20-2023 at 08:38 PM. |

Nah, that would have to be in the pipeline for at least 2 years now, and there would be various leaks from testing and maybe even R&D. I'm afraid the Camaro is at the end of the road, although I still kinda hope that history will prove me wrong.

if the dohc motors make their way to trucks that means you can always do a swap. this is good news.

What the consumer buys will dictate what the car manufacturer's do.
I wont be buying an EV anytime soon...if ever.

I called BS on EVs 2 years ago. Its a fad. The Power grid can't handle massive amounts of EVs, no one has time to sit around a read a book while waiting 1-2 hrs to fully charge. The current fraudulent admin is trying to mandate EVs and kill ICE. They can't force this sh!t down people throats. People are not falling for this sh!t, as soon as this admin is kicked out the EV mandates will be totally reversed. |
