If you're going to get an R-Comp I would go with the G3 Rs....

I haven't tried these tires, but I thought they would be cheaper than that. Won't even consider them when they cost more than G3Rs.

Sean, how do they compare to the 3Rs?

This size match would invert your rake and make the car handle like $hit in the process, so dont even go there.

I was considering these for my r32 in 17s but that price is way too high for that tire. From the reviews federal fz201 out performs it and is cheaper. But its only sized to 18s

Reviving this post because I’m now considering 18s more for my R-Comp setup for the Ring and other track days over here. Sean what are your thoughts on the AR-1s? It seems to be a VERY popular tire with a lot of the Ring locals. Considering getting an 18x10.5” setup to run these in 315 square and maybe try out a couple other options. I still kinda have my heart set on a 305 square G3R setup though I may want to stick with 19s.... any thoughts? Oh also I will soon have similar aero to your car on my SS 1LE.

I loved them and wish they had a better size for the ZLE. A 315 square may work better for the SS1LE.

RRs are slightly (about half a second) faster than both RC1 and AR1 tires at Streets of Willow (1:20 long track) on Supermiata's test. Same sizes same test environment same driver. It makes sense since AR1s are only slightly faster than the tires like NT01 and R888Rs in 100 tw tire category ..hybrid R comps.

RRs on the other hand is slightly more aggressive than them (similar to Cup2 , Trofeo Rs) maybe. I chose the 315/30/18" RRs for 18" sizes,. I also heard they (AR1s ) also heat cycle out whereas NT01s or R888Rs don't. According to the testers RRs also last the longest out of the three

Unfortunately the RRs are kinda off the table since I will be driving to/from the Ring on this set up and random showers/downpours are pretty frequent in the Eiffel mountains so I don't want to get caught out on the wet autobahn with the near slick RRs haha

My main dilemma is the AR-1s vs the G3Rs... also is it safe to run the 315 AR-1s on an 18x10.5? I would much prefer this so I could rotate them front/rear. I don't really know what other tire I would want to run on the 18s if I don't like the AR-1s as well, so it may be better to just stick with the 19s so I can run RS4s, G3s, G3rs, or AR-1s in 305s.

My fronts are 18x10.5" (315/30/18 Toyo RR) so it shouldn't be an issue to run 315 SQ. How are you going to be able to rotate front and rear unless you're using some excessive spacer up front for the rear wheels?

Speaking of RRs and rain, they will be fine unless it's a standing water (puddle) which would also be a problem for AR1 IMO. My friend with a C7 GS and I personally drove them in the rain before they were just fine, and they're DOT approved. Of course they're not ideal but it's doable

Yep, ive driven on bald NT01s in a rain. Anything is possible. But not fun. I would not get caught on semi slicks (DOT or not, they are RACE tires) on a wet autobahn even if somebody paid me big bucks. I had driven on various Euro hiways extensively and for many yrs. So again: NFW!!!
