possible mod recommendations

Hello all need some recommendations. I am thinking about finally putting the L99 under the knife a little more.

I currently have a 2015 L99 camaro with 38,000 miles with 3 basic performance mods.
-Solo high flow cats and mach xl catback and the newer Vararam Drx setup.

So I mainly have to decided how much I really want to put into the L99. I have used J rods performance shop before and they seem like good guys and seem to do great work with what little I had done.

-So I am thinking at a minimum LT headers 1 7/8-2 inch
-Tune

This would be the minimum I would do. I know it wouldn't give me a ton of power but I also don't want to go crazy spending a ton of money on my DD.

If I go with an added cam I don't want anything to lopey and crazy. Here are some of the cams I was looking at. I want to keep VVT but delete AFM. So this is where it can get ridiculously expensive real quick.

Comp Cams XR267PHR14 duration 214in 228ex 559in 571 ex lift 114 lobe separation
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/c...1-13/overview/

Texas Speed L92 VVT 1 216 229 600 600 114 lobe separation

Those are the VVT cams I was looking at. Yes I know they are smaller but not interested in a big lopey cam. That is what the build on the 87 ss monte I have will eventually be for.

If not going vvt I was thinking of the LPE GT-11 https://www.lingenfelter.com/product...l#.XglNTkdKiUk

or possibly the Livernois 1C cam. https://www.livernoismotorsports.com/product/LPP801117

Let me know what you think on the cams. I checked into these cams and all should provide from 30-50rwhp over the stock cam. So after bolt ons I am thinking anywhere from 395-430rwhp.

Well got some answers today and it pretty much was what I was expecting. Roughly 1500 for headers with install and tune. 4k for a full cam and tune package with labor.

Needless to say the cam is to rich for my blood. Might do the tune with headers though. Shop said to expect roughly 380rwhp with the headers, tune with what I already have.

buy headers and install yourself, I assume the 1500 was including a dyno tune? not sure just headers warrant a dyno tune, a remote tune would be sufficient and less money. then take the money you have saved for future mods such as a cam, then dyno tune with supporting mods.

get dynoSteves remote tune package...https://www.rdpstore.com/p-6042-tune...tom-tunes.aspx

his tune will seriously wake your ride up and make that auto trans sit up and bark!

then each time you mod Steve will send you a new tune..which is the way it's supposed to be....save the dyno for max N/A or F/I.

good luck!

PEACE

I'd use this cam minimum with headers, tune and gears. Hate to say it but an auto should get a converter too.

IMO Keep the car stock until you can afford putting an LSA on it.

I would put a set of gears in it first and see how you like that. 3.91 or 4:10. I friend of mine is making over 500rwhp and finally put in some 3.91's on his M6. He swears he wishes it was the first thing he did....

Shop I went to recommended the BTR stage 2. Seems like a lot of shops recommend that cam over GPI and TSP. Which is interesting. BTR's cams are made by Cam Motion from my understanding.

We will see in the coming days. I totally agree with forced induction. Bang for buck it really is the better deal and it doesn't effect driveability at all for the most part. All the really fast cars they had at the shop were boosting. Just more potential down the road.

The main reason I would change the cam is I am just waiting for the damn lifters to go. Met several people with 5.3 silverados who have AFM problems out of warranty and it was a nightmare to fix cost wise if they couldn't do the cam themselves.

not sure I would pay to boost an SS. I may get some criticism for saying that, but when you look at the used prices of a ZL1 and all of the other drive line and suspension improvements + improved aero, you may be better off trading up.

No you are right! It would just be cheaper to buy a Zl1 all said and done and the rear and much of the car is better set up.

It would be cheapest speed wise to just trade in my 2015ss and buy a low mileage 6th gen. Even with bolt ons shop said most 6th gens are still faster stock. There getting 500+rwhp with stage 2 cams and bolt ons with 6th gens.

Needless to say the thought crossed my mind or even a low miles c6. Definitely takes a lot more power to move our tanks but I still love the 5th gen look better.

Don't hate but the 6th gen is so small to me that you might as well get a c6 or if you wanted bigger get a challenger.
