Cammed 2-step = dangerous?

I have a 2013 2SS M6 that I'm getting a cam and off-road headers installed on. I know a 2-step will cause problems with cats, but with those gone, is there other danger?

My main concern is since the cam has more overlap, does that open the possibility of the after-fire traveling back into the intake? Does the extra pressure on the back of the exhaust valves from ignition in the exhaust cause any problems?

I guess my real question is, what danger does a 2-step pose to an N/A, cammed, catless car? I don't intend to use it much; just enough to ensure I don't get asked to babysit my 1 year old nephew.

"After fire" will not travel back into the intake. You'll be fine. Many people have ran a two step in cam only Lsx cars for years. Try doing a search.

I searched "2 step danger" and got to page 3 without finding anything related to 2-steps.

Thanks! How about the cam? How many miles do you have with the cam and with the 2-step? Anything you dislike about either?

I only just put the 2 step on about 2 weeks ago, or about 200 miles ago, so not a ton of experience with it yet although I have absolutely no issues or complaints. I don’t think I know of anyone who has had any issues because of it

This may be an ignorant question, but what is a 2 step?

It’s a type of launch control that can be activated with a clutch or brake pedal or really however else you want. The limited can be set wherever you want, allowing for consistent launches every time

What components did you use for your 2 step? CTAP? And?

What is the risk of wetting down the cylinder walls with unburnt fuel by using an ignition cut 2 step?

For now, mine is just set up to a toggle switch. It’s good for roll racing because I can set the limiter to like 4K where I’m making good power, flip the switch on, get up to the limiter, then flip it off and go. At some point I’ll wire it to my brake (I’m an auto, but I have a somewhat high stall) and I’ll set it to like 2k for dig racing but I won’t be doing any of that for a while.

I’m no professional, but shouldn’t dumping fuel into the cylinders without igniting it have something of a cooling effect? Or am I way off?
