Are the GM accessories' "dark" tail lamps the same as a ZL1's?

Hey guys,

I have been trying to figure out if the tail lamps from GM's accessories (part # 84136777) are the same ones on the ZL1 (or ZL1 1LE).

Some places call them "Smoked" and others call them "dark tail lamps" or "black out"... But no one says ZL1. And to further add to my confusion: The third brake light that is supposed to match these, specifically says "ZL1 1LE third brake light" (part # 84330249). GM accessories doesn't have this third brake light listed, only the non-GM online stores have it.

So, this basically boils down to:

1. Are there clear tail lamps -or- are these the same ones on ZL1 / ZL1 ILE? (bc in some pics of ZL1s they look clear, instead of smoked, to me.)

2. When buying the car, I read somewhere that my 18 2LT RS came with LED tail lights... do these "smoked" ones come with the LEDs or would I have to switch all the bulbs out (if that's even possible)?

Yeah they are the same. They look different depending on what angle you look at them.

The tails are either normal red or dark/smoked. The dark tails are only stock on Redlines, Hot Wheels and ZL1 1LE. The ZL1 1LE and Hot Wheels are the only cars available with a dark third brake light that matches the tails ( Redlines come with dark tails but a red third brake light

) I already ordered the dark third brake light to match the tails. If you're considering this, you might want to check out Wildhammer. They were the only site with these in stock, responded right away to an IM and shipping was crazy fast.

Not sure about the LED tails for a 2LT RS, don't see that referenced anywhere.

Yes, the
part # 84136777 is for the dark tail lamp and the
part # 84330249 is for the dark 3. brake lamp.
both are LED lamps

2LT/RS does come with LED tails, I have them on mine. And the smoked tails are also LED as well, so they should be simply plug and play.

That's exactly what I did. Replaced the red tail lights on my 2LT RS with the smoke ones and they work perfectly. Won't work on standard models without the LED option.
