Question Weight reduction started!

So I just was cleaning out my trunk decided to take the rear spare out and weight it.... 40lbs!!! Any body use a rear seat delete kit? Rear seat delete kits.com looks like a pretty decent kit they're claiming the weight difference is 30 lbs. So that could be an easy 70lbs gone. Thoughts? I never use the back seats anyway.

If I was going to the track I would just leave the tire home. My 2014 has no spare, just the kit. Not going to butcher the car to save a tenth of a second.

I agree with that statement. If yo are going to track the car, and that is about it, I get making it as light as possible. To drive around town with have the car gone because you are going to the track in 6 months makes a person look like a fool. I am not saying that about you OP, just a statement in general.

Yeah I understand you guys. The car is autocrossed and will one day be ran at the road course. So it's a daily driver mainly and I'm not goin to be stripping the car out or doing anything to radical for weight reduction but if I can save 70lbs without jacking the car up and hopefully another 20 lbs at least of on any moving parts (lighter wheels and tires, maybe some suspension pieces). I 'll be happy. The goal is to not only accelerate better but to handle better as well.

If you don't want your spare, list it on the classifieds or ebay, lots of us SS guys pay good money for the V6 spare kit.

peace of mind, I don't like the idea of being stranded and having to wait for roadside assistance.

no run flats, we just get a 12 volt inflater and a bottle of tire slime, that might work for minor punctures but not big holes or sidewall damage.

The V6 spare wheel wont fit over the brake rotors on the SS, but there are spacers available that will move the wheel out and solve the clearance issues. The Spare tire kit runs about $450 from a dealer, not counting the spacer.

Wow that's rediculous! Wonder how much I could sell a set of 14 1ls rims for? With decent condition stock tires?
