Stock exhaust-why so quiet?

So I had a c7 Z06 before my ZL1, and you could always hear the exhaust no matter what. Full throttle, cruising, etc. In my Zl1 its super super quiet unless you are on the gas even in track mode. Is this just the stock exhaust being different? If I swap it out will I get the growl im looking for?

Still too quiet for my taste even with fuse pulled

Does ZL1 come stock with NPP? If so, and you are in track mode, I'm surprised you find it quiet. SS 1LE in track mode hits about 97 dB.

It does come standard with NPP. Mine sounds every bit as loud as my SS 1LE did, but oddly my friend's SS convertible does not seem as loud (and it is NPP).

A nice Borla xpipe would wake these suckers up!

Corsa Xtreme for me. I have a C7 Z06 too and there definitely louder. But both cars rock Corsa Xtreme systems.

Pulling the fuse made absolutely no difference on my ZL1 from track mode. Cruise, part throttle, WOT.....all identical with our without fuse pulled.

I wonder how much sound the back seat and cabin damper the sound. I have been tempted to drop the back seat to find out. I only really hear the car with the windows and sunroof open.

Pulling fuse 51 will not satisfy someone who truly wants a louder exhaust. I installed a Kooks axleback and omg does it wake the car up. The dual mode function is lost but I never used it anyway. Here's a cold start video. I'm gonna get around to making a proper exhaust vid one of these days. It's the best sounding axleback I've heard on these cars.

I have to agree with this statement. Did nothing.

Fuse pull was a thing on the 5th Gens. But it doesn't do anything significant if anything at all on the 6th Gens. Your best bet would be an aftermarket axle-back or cat-back. A cat-back will sound much better, much louder, and you'll get rid of that crushed pipe section. That's the way I would go if I were you.

The C7 has an open hatch area behind the seats. The Camaro's trunk and rear seats isolate the passenger compartment from the exhaust compared to the Corvette.

This has been mentioned a million times, but pulling the fuse really only gives you a little more sound at steady cruise and light throttle positions vs track mode. Definitely not a huge difference, but noticeable to me.

I put headers on my car, and along with the stock muffler, it’s perfect. The ZL1 “suitcase” muffler doesn’t produce any noticeable drone/resonance, which is maybe why it seems quieter than a Z06. I had a really similar setup on both of my C6s (headers into stock ZR1 mufflers), and there was quite a bit of drone. I don’t think WOT was any louder than my ZL1, but you could hear it more inside the car. If that makes sense.
