ZL1 axles for an SS

Since we all know that the axles on this car seem to be on the weaker side. I'd like to know if the ZL1 axles are a direct fit for the SS. I realize that the ZL1 has the eLSD, but unless it's a completely different housing, I'd think they still fit. Does anyone know?

I believe at least one is a different length but I do not have a definitive answer on this. They do sell aftermarket high HP axles though.

Yeah, I know about the Gforce axles, but I consider $1700 for set of axles to be asinine. Especially considering the Strange pro race axles in my drag car were less than $500, and are built to handle twice the power. If Gforce is the only option for a stronger axle in these cars, then someone needs to developed a more budget friendly axle for these cars. Otherwise I foresee quite a few budget bolt on guys with laid up cars.

I definitely agree with you there.

Driveshaft Shop makes them as well. That's where I got mine from. They are $1500 a set.

Yeah, just read about theirs.$1500 is a tiny bit better, but I think it would be ideal for someone to make a set in the $700-900 range. Sure they wouldn't be as strong but I'd bet they'd sell twice as many as Gforce and DSS.

I agree with this for 90% of mods right now. The prices just seem too high, but I guess it's the price we pay for modding new cars

I wonder isn't it cheaper on a lower HP (<600rw) car not on slicks just to replace the stock axles rather than buy stronger axles and break the much more expensive diff? Sort of like the shear pin on and outboard motor.

LMAO at the 700-900 range. The parts and material to build them cost more then that.

Also your 700-900 half-shafts wouldn't come with the life time warranty

ZL1 (coupe) and SS 1LE with the eLSD have a shorter right side axle do to the eLSD's different shaped housing. So you can't directly swap axles in a regular SS.

Anyone figure this out? I have a chance to buy a zl1 1le M6 diff, axles, and driveshaft for a m6 SS. Easy swap? Or will it fit?
