Hopefully it doesn't add price to the existing sizes when they do this

The 20" sizes are already on the Goodyear website. https://www.goodyear.com/en-US/tires...3r/sizes-specs

Yes, this is from a reputable source. Exactly when and how quick all the sizes will be available (there are a fair amount: 17, 18, 19, 20) I don’t know. Check TR for updates. |

Several people on this thread have inquired on the track life of the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R on the ZL1 1LE. Short answer: 2 track days, 3 if I'm lucky.
There is very little street driving on these, it's mostly from SF to the track and back. Set 1: -2.7 camber, lasted 2 track days and corded the front outside passenger at Thunderhill Set 2: -3.0 camber, lasted 2 track days with better wear but still wearing the outside at Laguna Seca Set 3: -3.2 camber, lasted 3 track days but was wearing the front inside driver at Buttonwillow #1 CW + Thunderhill Set 4: -2.7 camber, lasted 2 track days but corded the front driver inside driver again at Buttonwillow #1 CCW. Set 5: -3.2 camber, zero toe this time (had been running -.04 toe out). I'll lose turn-in but hopefully, save the insides. Looking for my next track weekend. I do rotate the fronts but not as much as I should. I could get 8 track days on a set of MPSC2s on my C7 but that was lighter and had less horsepower. I've talked to my mechanic, who is also a semi-pro Corvette racer, about changing wheels/tires in search of better wear and he said that even slicks aren't that much faster than the 3R as the ZL1 1LE is really set up for that tire and suggested sticking with it. I curious if NT01s get more track days. |

What are your cold pressures and are you running super hard Right off the bat? I run them on my Gen5 1LE, I take it easy the first lap, lap and a half. I also run them static at 30psi. Otherwise I can feel them roll over which isn’t helping the outer shoulders. My inner shoulders are seeing more abuse from too much street driving with high cambers.

I pray this happens. That extra width along with the already great longevity and I think amazing grip would be the bomb.

I shoot for the same temps that Randy Pobst used to get a 1:34 at Laguna Seca in a ZL1 1LE, according to the November 2017 issue of Motor Trend: 28 cold -> 34 hot front 26 cold -> 34 hot rear It take more than a lap to get the tires up to operating temp so I don't push hard for the first 1.5-2 laps. |

Running -2.7 camber up front, -1.7 camber in the rear.
Toe is set to the spec of the track alignment specs provided by GM. Have been trying a few different hot pressures on track, and so far it feels like 31 psi hot all around is the sweet spot. This was at PBIR. With street alignment, the front outside edge of the tires lasted only one day. With the track alignment which has the above specs so far two track days in and outside fronts have a huge improvement in wear, however now the inside is wearing badly from street driving. (see attached pictures). Maybe 600 miles of street use. |

Switched to Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s with Michelin Track Connect Set 6: -3.2 camber, lasted 3 track days, zero toe After 1 day: Swapped right/left, day 2: I really had to baby them to last on day 3 and I didn't like the inconsistent performance (cold->hero lap->slow, much slower on day 3) relative to the F1 3Rs. Had I been thinking I would have asked the tire shop at Thunderhill to flip them on the rim after day 2. I liked the Cup2s better on my C7. Set 7: I'm going to try a set of Toyo R888Rs before I give up and go back to the F1 3Rs, I know I'll be slower but hopefully consistent and can get 3+ days out of them. Does anyone have alignment suggestions for the Toyos? Last edited by ronzer; 11-17-2019 at 11:34 AM. |
