want to feel good about the 1LE

Obviously purpose built but so are the competitors. The bones and platform are already there. This is serious! This car and video says it all! Please Watch!
SCCA Hoosier Super Tour Sunday T1 Sebring -A. Aquilante 36T1

Enjoy!

This should be the car: http://phoenixperformance.net/phoenix_cars_for_sale.php - well the Camaro on that page anyways.

Although shows T2 vs T1.

He drives a Corvette in T1 normally - or at least used to.

That is awesome.
Guy in the C6 really didn't want to be passed by a Camaro.

Based off of the video title, I found links to the race results:
https://www.scca.com/events/1990178-majors-sir-cfr

and driver interview:
https://www.scca.com/videos/2034236

It looked like the Corvette and the Viper were both turning in very late and that corvette looked like it was trying to crash. Though it's always fun seeing the slower straight-line car win in the corners.

It appears the Camaro in the video that won the race was a 2016 SS, not a 1LE.
Even more impressive.

Its not a 1LE. Its a SS. I talked with him on Instagram a bit about the car: Factory powertrain and drivetrain. Stock tunes on everything, even ABS. Brakes a race Brembos.

He comments on this pic

Not really. The 1LE adds absolutely nothing that would be useful to that build. In stock form, the 1LE is amazing, but at that level of build, the cheapest SS available is best. Suspension, interior, bushings, etc are all likely changed (suspension is for sure, he's running Penske dampers).

Yeah, I don't know what class he's in or what mods were allowed, didn't know the class allowed complete suspension and brake swap. The OP mentioned it was a 1LE, I was noting it was just an SS beating a vette and viper, not the 1LE.

The one thing the 1LE has that would be difficult... near impossible, unless you have access to GM’s software, is the ABS cal. That would be very helpful. Other than that, all the FE4 bits that are beneficial are a quick bolt in. The car is pretty much stock, if you read the comments. Hell, look over a GT4.R and you’ll see a lot of factory suspension parts.

ajaquilante@lfpig Amazing minimal stuff. OEM engine(airbox to exhaust manifolds) trans and diff.exhaust is opened up. Suspension has the most work done with Penske shocks, and tuning on the springs and bars. Now the cups were not being driven to the limit like I was driving the Camaro.

lfpig@ajaquilante just amazing driving, what lap time did you managed to get around Sebring? And I’m assuming this car still in 3500lb range or so? Amazing driving man

mountain302@ajaquilante What do you guys fo for brakes?

ajaquilante@mountain302 Brembo racing 14” stuff currently. Could use 15” in certain classes

ajaquilante@lfpig 2:13.0 Min weight was 3600 w/driver. No fuel

mountain302@ajaquilante The factory ABS calubration does just fine with racing brakes and slicks then, huh?

ajaquilante@mountain302 It works, but isn’t great. Easy to get it upset.

mountain302@ajaquilante Gotcha. I wonder how much better the SS 1LE [ABS] cal would fair...

I assume the driver is Andrew A. who is a multi time SCCA national champion i highly doubt the car is "pretty much stock" since no stock car would be capabale of doing a 2:13 at Sebring.

NB Andrew posted a fast lap in a stock GT3 RS there and it was a 2:20 just as a reference. And it is a good reference given the same driver (assuming i am correct here). And no stock SS comes close to an RS, not even 1LE.

The SCCA cars are stock based *race* cars, which start with major diets plus safety and performance changes and this is a good example of what our cars are capable of with race focused mods. But they are no longer street cars.

As far as GT4R one wont find any stock suspension parts in it except for designated attachment points. It is a full on Pratt and Miller racer which weighs in at just over 3100lb. It is based on a production car body, but thats about it, more or less, as even that is heavily modified re weight saving components. NB Its motor is based on LT1 but it is a race engine built specifically for this application.
