911 Carrera S
911 GT3 (close race)
718 Cayman GT4 RS (really close race, I'd think)
GT500
BMW M5
BMW G82 M4 Competition (close race)

There's an uncomfortable number of Audi's that are a tune or tune/downpipe away from really putting distance on a stock ZL1. Same goes for many BMW's. Mercedes' cars aren't as reactive to those two mods but, they can certainly move out so, don't dismiss them. I think that's pretty relevant considering how easy/cheap those mods are, along with how common they are, too.
I'm interested in this one^ same motor, but is it because it's lighter?

And yet, they don't seem to really perform any better than the ZL1. Whether its the inferior chassis or the A8 vs A10, I don't know.

Having owned both, I can say that a large percentage of that is the chassis. The C7 chassis just has a really hard time dealing with its power in a productive fashion. It takes some massaging and fine tuning to really get it to behave. Most people don't bother with that and just toss as much power as possible toward their car and throw on the stickiest tire on the smallest wheel they can afford. The A8 gearing was a face palm moment from GM. If the gearing were better spread out, then there wouldn't be this wall that the C7Z A8 hit at 5th gear that causes it to lose many races that it just shouldn't have.

And they do perform better but the margins aren't as wide as many people would expect for the weight difference. I can tell you that there is a rather notable difference in perceived acceleration between my C7Z and my ZL1 1LE in general. Whether or not it was actually quicker in a straight line is debatable but I know I'd bet on that car every time with equal mods. Around a track, I'd also bet on a C7Z Z07 vs a ZL1 1LE every time with equal drivers.

C7s look great, but since my ZL1 is a vert I can actually have 3 other passengers! Inlikited headroom

Also doesn’t hurt that my brand spankin’ new ZL1 was just 73k

The GTR, particularly the Nismo at $220k?, is faster in every increment than our beloved ZL1. I've owned two. All wheel drive basically makes our traction problems a thing of the past:

0-60 = 2.9 sec
1/4 = 11.2
etc

I believe OP mentioned from a roll, does that still hold true?

I would still think the GTR would out dig a ZL1. Top speed is probably close. [No, GTR hits 205] But, you can buy three ZL1 for the price of a Nismo!
