I remember reading through this thread years ago. I bet all the naysayers of the LT1 are feeling pretty stupid now. There’s tons of examples of silverados/sierras/Escalades with the same engine minus the manifold differences with well over 100k miles and no valve cleanings/issues. Is there oil around the intake valves on these engines? Yes. Does it actually matter? Not really. People just like to hate on new technology.

I've hit the limiter many times (usually in 1st because it comes up so fast), but I consistently run it up to 4500. I have to pull out onto the state highway (70mph 2 lane blacktop) at the base of two hills so as soon as I get straightened up from my left hand turn, I'm on the gas so I don't get a log truck or an inattentive driver running up my butt. I watch my mirror as I get squared up and if someone crests the hill behind me within the first few seconds, I'll rev it all the way out so that I'm up to speed before they need to get on the brakes. Twice a week I have a 35min drive to a different location and more than not I have to pass a log truck or an old person that refuses to drive over 55. With the hills, and short passing zones I often hit 110-120. Redline in 4th is common. This car runs GOOD.

I believe that the failure point is the internal locking pin in the lifter. If the pin is never actuated, it can never wear and fail.
