That blower whine and those smoking hot brakes.

...and those Automatic shifts too.

The fenders are physically wider than the SS/LT models up front.

They are the same Recaros as in the 1LE, just colored differently. They are extremely supportive, and revised/improved versus the 5th generation seats so shifting is easier on the arms/shoulders.

The Sparcos were dedicated racing seats in the prototypes and were awesome, but not production seats.

Nope! That was one of the first things I noticed, it sits *just right* (in my eyes).

It will be capable of gripping below 40 if equipped with the proper tires. When I buy mine, for example, I will put winter tires and separate wheels on it for driving in the colder temps. I'm thrilled it has heated seats and steering wheel for that purpose.

The ZL1 is designed to do, literally, everything well...including all the creature comforts.

Did you see the video of the PDR? Pretty cool stuff!

Wait to see/hear it in person...it's similar to the SS, except deeper, louder...we heard it loudly from the opposite end of the road course, not exaggerating.

They are, I promise. Look at a rear quarter view of an SS, and then look at one of the pictures in the OP of the ZL1. The front fender flares stick out further. We're talking a foot..perhaps about a half of an inch.

A good reference would be to look at the 1LE pictures. Both cars have 285mm wheels/tires, but the 1LE looks as though the front wheels are "poking" out from under the fenders a little bit, while the ZL1 overhangs them a little better.

From what I gathered, the change was more for cosmetic and aerodynamic reasons (interacting with the front fascia), than anything mechanical.

That's exactly right. It was intended to do excel at everything from racing on the track to driving back and forth to the grocery store in comfort and luxury.

Considering the number of ZL1s that will be sold...it's probably a fair statement that most will not be raced like they are capable of.

Also, is the rear tire width 305 like the 1LE? Same tires as the 1LE basically on new wheels right?
That is correct on both fronts.

Same seats as the 1LE, just with a different seat cover.

and, Same tires on both cars. Apparently, Goodyear sent an F1 engineer from Europe to come work with Camaro engineers to produce a truly unique version of the Eagle F1 G:2 tire for this generation. The sole purpose for this redesign was "to maximize grip everywhere".

So does anybody know how downshifting say to pass on the highway will work with the 10 speed auto? If you're cruising at 70, and hit it to make a fast pass, (not a sissy pass, a hard pass ) is this thing going to have to downshift like 3 or 4 gears? All that torque or not, I think it will...

Probably, like anything else you'll want to be in the power band for a "hard pass", and there's more steps to make.

The good thing is that shifts appear to occur instantaneously when the paddle is pressed, should make it easy enough to downshift a few times.

im sure it will be. They revealed it already so there's no reason it shouldn't be there. They need to get the word out to the public, they're not all sitting on the Camaro forums all day like us haha

Trade out the heated seats for functioning tow hooks, unlike the 5th gen.
I use my heated seat. Year round. And I'm certain I'm not alone there.

You know what I love the most? Mark has his own helmet. His own personal helmet. He giggles when he is driving the car. That tells anyone exactly what they need to know. That simple.

Of course it will....the 8 speed already does that. Cruise at 70 in 8th and nail it to the floor, and it will shift directly into 3rd or 4th. Its not like it has to shift 4 times to get there....it just goes directly to whatever gear it chooses.

That said...yeah a 10 speed is likely going to shift more, but not a LOT more than an 8 speed. Realistically, 1st through 5th will be your "track gears". It will never touch the higher gears..
