2x Michelin PS4S 255/40/20 and 2x PS4S 285/35/20 tires - $500 total - SOLD

I switched to wider wheels and tires, so selling my previous PS4S setup, see sizes in title. These are one of the best summer street tires in production.

Tires fit staggered OEM SS wheel sizes, have ~3500 miles on them and are in perfect condition, no gashes, scratches or chunking, kept and driven in proper temperatures at all times.

Fronts have 8.5/32nds tread depth (new is 9.5), see third pic; rears have 8/32nds (new is 9.5), see last pic.

Asking $500 for the set of 4 and at this price I prefer not to split. Located in northern NJ, no shipping but willing to drive 50-60 miles to meet, or we can do a local pickup.

These appear to be 10mm wider than the stock size for your car. Correct? Trying to understand whether they would fit without any mods on my car as a backup set.

Yes, exactly. They are a perfect fit for the stock wheels.

I'm curious why you opted to go oversized instead of stock size, though. And, are these the previous generation of PS4S tires, or the "new" ones?

For a little more sidewall and grip. With these the sidewall is perfectly vertical, which is a look I like, the tires fit the stock wheels and there are no adverse effects.

As to previous vs "new", I didn't know the PS4S itself had generations, sorry.

Thanks.

I'm not 100% up on previous or new either, but it appears that there is a model being promoted as "new" with a slightly higher price although I can't figure out what's different about them.

Well, there's the one with the internal sound dampening layer, and Michelin recently added a runflat (ZP) version to the lineup. These tires are neither of these two specialty versions.

I figured it out...

There's a US-manufactured version and a FR-manufactured version. The FR ones are more expensive per tire.

To be clear - you're selling just the tires, correct?

Ahh, okay, thanks, this is interesting info. I'll check the tires to see where they were made.

Yes, I'm only selling the tires, they're already off those wheels in the pics.

Surprise, surprise.

I don't think there would be a difference apart from import duty or customs fees, it would be very weird if Michelin had made a silent model spec change but only for tires manufactured in France, without any communication whatsoever.

Typically, a specific model tire is manufactured to a spec that does not vary from one plant to the next. Michelin will supply the design, the molds, the manufacturing process, the materials... so, there should be zero difference except, as you stated, the tariff as it's imported.

Unless there is something materially different about the chemical makeup of the final materials used to make the tires (not likely), they should be exactly the same in terms of performance and wear.
