Are there no good DFW tuners? (Was DFW area tuner?)

Hi,

Just about to hit 60K in my 2016 2.0T 6M, and I'd like to work with someone local to tune it up. Mostly I'd like the motor to pull to the redline; right now max boil is roughly 3500-5500 RPM, so it goes like crazy when I row like crazy.

Any thoughts/experience with DFW area tune shops?

TIA!

Cjf

I'm kind of amazed that this post has 311 views and not one recommendation. Are there no good tuners in DFW???

A lot of people just remote tune through Coopers Camaro. He is the best tuner for our platform by far. I am also from DFW.

Thanks. I've done those things, plus contacted some of the shops directly. I was hoping someone in this community could share their experience.

Thanks! I'll check them out. Did you use them? How did that go?

PS: Do you have a link? I'm getting a million things when I search the forums, and a truck specialist in Alberta on Google. Not sure if I've found the right one...

Thanks!

He just has a facebook page unfortunately, but my experience has been great! I originally tuned with ZZP, and that didn't go too well. Their parts are awesome, but the tuning was really disappointing and left me feeling kinda cheated. I then reached out to Cooper and it was a night and day difference, the car actually has some life in it now. Are you part of the Camaro 2.0 Facebbok page? If not, join it and you'll meet Cooper along with some other very knowledgeable people.

Forgot to mention Cooper is also here on the forums. I think his username is Cooper1965 or something like that.

Terrible exp w Lou and LGmotors back in 97
ADM is excellent
21st century is good, good results w my old 5th gen back in 2011

Newer shops: below

Baileys Performance... Zeus zl1 AKA Robert, did a build with them but, I never know when he's telling the truth so not sure how credible he is the guy is a big liar when you call him on he plays stupid and says he doesn't know cars that well.. He must not of trusted Chris cuz he would always msg me and get a second opinion if such and such sounded right..

And netflix sensation Tiana Weber " The chick that almost beat a Mclaren 720s in an ford mustang Manual with a kong ported LS9 blower.". Accelerated Racing Solutions

I'd drive to Houston and use Sorian tuning or alex Pietz "pietz performance"

Alex is a teacher of HP tuners and might have a in should something arise since not much tuning is available for you!

If your gonna make that go.. think wide band controller and port injection!

Dude really? Like is this a troll or what?

you "can" remote tune if you have someone dedicated to helping you through the several hoops like getting your hpt suite setup, credits and all that, plus not having to walk you through every mouse click. At the very least get HPT running and learn logging basics so you can assist your guy easier.

It will go much farther. Yes your looking at the cost of hpt plus ltg and/or trans credits. Plus what ever your guy's rate is. and a local dyno pull or 2. its not cheap if you want a solid "tune". Road tuning is the other side of the coin to dyno tuning, you can do it front to back or back to front, its the same. I mean in reality your tables are gonna call for all available power, so is not like there is this arbitrary reason a dyno will net you more power over road tuning. Just find a good incline to pull against w/o getting arrested to get the log data.

Some things can only be managed by reading on your road experience which is what really matters and what is the reason people have complaints. Dyno is a "lab" based option to see peaks under highly controlled conditions. In the end a basic starter tune will get you around 320 torque. Depending on how your demand tables are set up it can be responsive or lazy and have the same peak numbers, and you can't feel that difference on a dyno, its the drivers perception on the road that ends up biting you in the ass.

You will need solid power adders like e85 or a bigger turbo get your rocks off.

I have chatted with Cooper and he seems to know his stuff, LTG knowledge is highly guarded b/c its not exactly the same as LT1/LS tuning so its a niche and takes a lot of work to master it. I've been working my tunes for over a year and still learn new things as I add mods and I find gains here and there and they all add up.

Air is a huge player with this engine. Since it has a propeller to charge the air flow, This is a true variable when the air is less dense like hot summer days. So if having disappointing numbers check again in the spring or fall cool dry air. It is what it is. You will need other means of pushing the piston down, and that is usually E85, and people also do load up with street 110 at the strip also to get into the mid and upper 300's at the crank.

Just my 2c.
