I would let a tire person look at the tire. The sidewall is usually the thinnest part of the tire. I do not know what ply the sidewalls are on the Pirellis but that looks nasty being where it is. It is the transition from the bead section to the sidewall so I would let someone who can get an actual eye on it look at it for safety sake.
