In my case going with a short block or rebuilding my existing block, the price is about the same. Things change if you go outside your stock 376 CI comfort zone, such as a 416.

Well first of all I remember your thread and it sucks. You been without the car for half a year I'm happy for you that things are looking up

You only had boltons and the crank cracked. WTF? Spinning a rod bearing is another thing that I seem to hear about too frequently. I really wonder about these engines longevity. Yes, this shit happens but I don't remember failure rates like this with the older LS stuff. It's just an observation!

Did you have a tune? I don't remember.

Yes, I understood that lube was good for the old crankshaft too!

So your eng. was stock? What caused this failure? How many miles on it.

Aside from the mods, stock block and internals.

K&N CAI
2" Speed Engineering LT (cat delete)
3" Speed Engineering X-Pipe (cat delete)
MBRP 3" Axle back (getting rid of the suit case finally)
DIY E85 flex fuel
Stage 3 ported LT2 Intake
95mm ZR1 TB

They aren't really sure what caused it, but the rear rod bearing spun, and they found a crack in the crank shaft.

They wanted to see what the tune looked like saying maybe an aggressive tune caused it.

~64,000 miles

Thats effed up because I have over 66k miles on mine and be banging gears pretty hard. Have they seen or heard of this issue before? Is yours under warranty?

These cars run even noticeably faster in the winter because of all the ice cold air going into the intake. Best time to have fun.

Primary warranty expired at 36k which is when I started modifying. And because of mods, no warranty at all.

Chad with CBI sounded a little surprised about the crank cracking though.
