1st oil change v-6 install w/ stahlbus valve

So here's the jist of the first oil change on the V-6. First the ramps. I own these ramps:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...rch_detailpage

simply center them and drive on. Since the drain bolt is at the back, no need to level the car when draining. if you're a big guy I suggest a ramp a few inches taller, but this works fine for me.

The drain bolt is 19 mm and also has a torx center. V8 and v6 use same bolt. The oil drain was straightforward, pull the bolt, drain and screw in new valve.

Now before I get the usual posts about it sticking down , IT DOES NOT. The Fumoto 107s valve would, but this is still 1/4" higher than your cladding and cross strut brace. You will destroy the lower end before the valve scrapes. I am in Florida where the roads are smooth so no worries.

For the oil filter I use a little trick I learned on my 300 Mercury Verado's we've used in the past couple years - get a big trash bag and loosen filter, snake the open end of the bag over the oil filter, keep unscrewing and all the messy oil and filter drop into the bag. So now I'm set to do oil changes at my condo which would cost me a penalty if I spilled anything.

Enjoy, more info and videos on the stahlbus site here, from Germany, it’s got that precision feel to it. Not cheap @$55.

http://www.stahlbus.com/products/en/oil-drain-valve/

the size to use is M12 x 1.75 this should be the same for v6 and v8.- see Fred at reverse logic :

http://www.reverselogic.us/stahlbus.html

one other note, no matter how easy oil changes are, wear Nitrile gloves..oil can be cancerous...100 pr off amazon for 10 bucks. I wear them for most mods/work. Edd China of wheeler dealers, , IMO the greatest tech on TV, taught me that....

Excellent. Thanks!

I just got my TPW so I feel like it's real enough to start ordering parts and such.

Edit: Can we make stuff like this sticky?

Great write up! Does the v6 camaro not have the black plastic pieces on the bottom of the bumper or did you remove yours? Maybe I just do not see them at this angle? Mean make it a pain on ramps.

Good eye!...they came off the first week I had the car, I hate those damn things and certainly not concerned about missing their function.....I don't Care what they do.....LOL

If they were on, they would slightly drag across the ramp, but no damage done.

If you want to get super Duper ramps that would have absolutely no problem, see Fred's site for his ramps, Longer ....

hmmm interesting. I've already scuffed mine up a little. They are really soft and you can barely feel them when they hit a curb. I was planning to hit them with 303 this weekend as I'm betting they just need wiped off. But, over time I can definitely see them getting cheese grated.

But, now you have me thinking about removing them as well. They don't look good.

Can anyone advise what function these serve? Any function that would impact the car for daily driving?

Glen I'm just following your lead and copying everything you do lol . You've even got me considering changing my own oil again. Haven't done it for years. But, $40 an oil change vs $80 is sounding pretty good.
