How much did you pay for installing the gears
I am really thinking about swapping the gears (Camaro SS A6) as even after tune and all the mods I have I still feel like the car is lazy (because it's fat & heavy).
So instead of stock 3.27 gears I plan to go with 3.71 gears ratio. It's not an expensive mod but the installation procedure keeps me off the game so far. I will definitely need help from truly professionals. I am wondering what the reasonable price for the gears installation in TX (DFW area but I can make it anywhere in TX) is? I know it's going to be about 6h of labor but correct me if I am wrong. Question to both forum's members and sponsors in Texas: How much did you pay for installing the gears / how much do you usually charge for this type of work? Thanks guys! |

I bought a basically new 1le diff for 1200, swapped the diff out, then sold the 3.45 diff for $600. A lot of G8 owners want the 3.45 diff and wasn't hard to sell in my situation. You'll save money in the long run if you do it that way, assuming you get a decent deal on the 1le diff. I think the cheapest quote I got was like 1700 for the ring and pinion kit installed and after selling my 3.45 that put my at $600 for a practically new 1Le diff. Almost 1/3 of the cost

For some reason, guys seem to be afraid to find a "small name" shop to do this type of work. I found a mechanic who races a lot at the strip I go to. He has done 100's of 9" and 12 bolts...but never worked on a Camaro. He did my gears for $350. He tried to charge me $250 (I supplied the parts) and I wouldn't let him!! $350 even seemed too cheap.

Thank you guys,
It makes sense! My case is different as nobody wants 3.27 diff maybe I should buy 3.45 diff for let's say $500-$600? |

If I could find a 1LE diff, I'd sell you my 3.45 diff with 8k miles. But I cant freakin find one decently priced with good miles

6 hours is right on point with R&R and gear install. You will also need a complete install kit bearings seals bolts crush collar nut and shims. We offer diff building services if you want to R&R and ship it. We avoid Richmond and Motive gears and prefer OEM/American Axle Manufacturing better known as AAM over any aftermarket gear sets. Main caps should be measured during disassembly we often find them out of round and too big especially the ring gear side. Our billet caps fix that problem. The stock posi is Very weak and is prone to 1 tire burnouts, especially after a gear swap. We offer 2 solutions. Our JRE Posi Mod. Eaton Tru Trak for high power applications. Feel free to contact us for parts and or service. Ted.

I just finished one for a customer. Also did poly bushings while the carrier was out. Charged $1000 in labor. Book time for ring and pinion is 8.3 hours.

Contact Andy at ADM in Lewisville, TX - I don't wanna say what he quoted me, but it was relatively inexpensive for a 1LE swap and he takes yours as a core.

Do I need to have 1le diff or they gonna have one for me? The diff itself is quite expensive, at least 1LE.. |
