Top speed calculator help
Hey guys trying to find a balance between gears, tire sizes, and top speed. Let me start off by saying I have a 1LS. The car is not a sea racer is a wily driver with a mix of autox and will be running the road course at nola motorsports. There is a pretty long straight and I want to make sure I'm not running out of steam. The v6 needs all the help some gears can give it. Guess I'm looking for a balance between lower gears and top speed. Before anyone warns me that my top speed is limited to 118, when the gears go in I'll have some 19x10 forgestar cf5V and nitto nt05 in 275/35/19 (a square set up)to go with the gears, and the time will take care of the limiter.
I tried playing around with some too speed calculators and I just don't seem to get the right numbers. Can somebody help me out? The tire diameter set up with the new shoes and rubber I'll be running is 26.6 I believe. Thanks in advance!

I can get you close. Im 4 x 305/30 R19 about the same height.
3.50 gear in the diff, TR6060 Assuming a 6800 limiter: 1st is 50 2nd 73 3rd 106 4th 151 5th 180 http://www.f-body.org/gears/ Here's a link to download a program that i used to figure the above. You have to know your gear ratio by gear of your transmission as well as your final drive ratio. Again my numbers wont help too much since im a TR6060. My numbers for example are 1st-3.010, 2nd- 2.07, 3rd 1.43, 4th-1.00, 5th- 0.84, 6th-0.57. My final drive ratio, determined by my rearend is a 3.50:1 Strange 9" S-Trac http://fredricksensoftware.us/EngineSpeeds/index.htm

I tried playing around with the calculators I got something like 190 in 6th gear but with a 3.91 gear ratio that can't be right. I just don't wanna out in the 3.91 gears and be limited to like 120 or anything lol. I believe stock with the 3.27 the rs with better tires can do 145. Does that sound right? As long as I'm capable of doing about 140ish I shouldn't run out of gear in the straight at nola motorsports.

The motor will never pull that car past 160s in 5th if your lucky ....6th is too steep you will lose speed drag limited ....

That's ok with me I jut want to know about what I can expect hitting a long straight at te track. I hate to be top speed limited to like 120 after a gear change -_-

BullF-16 thinks you have an SS. You don't. Also, the top speed limiter in the 1LS is due to the tires - if you have the car tuned or something, you can remove the limiter. If you don't, well, yeah, you're still limited to 118mph because that's what the stock tires are rated for.
26.6" tire, yes. Assuming you're still talking about the 3.91 gears, and 7000rpm red line... 1st 31mph 2nd 55mph 3rd 84mph 4th 119mph 5th 142mph 6th 189mph You are going to be shifting a lot. Lol. And if you need to get over 140 then the 3.91s are not for you. (yes, the RS package changes the speed limiter to the RS package's tires rating: 155mph. Been there. No need to go that fast. Lol)

Also realize that the speed limiter in the car is electronic for safety and the top speed in each gear I've listed is theoretical. Your V6 cannot get the car to 189.

Take a look at the table here and look how much more gearing you have than any of the other models to begin with. A 3.91 in the V6 with a M6 will make 1st gear just about worthless, especially if you plan to add power later. Use the online calculator with a 3.45 ratio and see what it gives you. You should be able to get one easily because it is the stock gear for the SS with the LS3 and it will fit your pumpkin.

Thanks guys I appreciate the input an I do realize that 3.91a might be a little much now. Like I said these speeds will only be achieved on a road course. I've been considering the ls3 3.45 gearing as an option. I've also been thinking about 3.73s im going to play with the calculators again. I know I'm limited to too speed electronically because of the tires in the 1LS I plan to fix that with nitto nto5

It's cool man I got what you were saying. Eventually I'm going forced induction most likely an ipf supercharger, so if I can get up to at least 140 on th long straight at nola motorsports I'll be happy. I know right now I'm electronically limited, I just don't wanna be gear limited on a long straight at a road course. I'm not expecting to be able to go 200 + or anything just want to make sure I can at least hit between 140-160.
