But if these people don't pay despite the fact they can, it sends a stark message to these dealers. Honestly I can't afford a $80,000 ZL1 Yes they were under $70,000 just 4 years ago. Now used ZL1's sell for the same price they sold for new 4 years ago. There is a fine line between inflation and blatant greed. Inflation is just the excuse they use to mask it.

Yep, completely agreed. Plus the car hasn’t changed since 2017 besides the rear bumper, lights and wireless apple carplay. If zl1’s were mid 60’s still I woulda bought one of those instead most likely.

Paying attention to the people in my area with real money and what cars they drive, and then the people with average amounts of money and the vehicles they drive, at least in my area, I whole-heartedly agree. There are occasional outliers of course but generally speaking spot on. Also for whatever reason the more rural you get the more domestic the vehicles get again gotta love gods country

Dave Ramsey said it perfect .. step outside your house and look left and right and you'll see a person knee deep in debt trying to be "normal".

Credit card debt in this country is at a 10 year high. So are repos. The economy sucks, despite the lies the mainstream media tells. I think we all know the reasons why.

I have spent the last decade restoring and collecting vintage Porsches and have had my fair share of modern Porsche (gt3, 911 GTS) and the Camaro for me is going to be big ole breath of fresh American air!

No German vehicles for me, I grew up too close to them Mercs and Beemers of the 80s (The 6th gen Camaro's chassis and suspension were, how should I put it, stoutly BMW inspired anyway, let that be enough )

There are plenty of dealers out there doing zero markups

Porsches, I see too many in NE OK. I know Tulsa has been growing, but I use to work in midtown Tulsa on a daily basis. You never saw high end cars at the frequency you do now. Now about 15 years later, you can't go 5 minutes without seeing a new Cayenne or Macan. I'm not talking base models either, I think I saw three different new Cayenne Turbos in one day. New Escalades start at 80k and they are all over my small town. I'm seeing lower income area buying the old Cayennes and driving them the 10 miles before they need a repair the owner can't afford. Oh, too many 70K trucks to count, AND I live in a rural area and maybe 10% of them have hauled more cargo than my Accord.
I saw someone towing a 25' speed boat with a Highlander last week. Priorities, I guess!

My 1987 325is might still be the best drivers car I have ever owned. Not enough power to get into too much trouble, but more than enough chassis to handle and stunts you try in it. There is a reason people still hunt those cars for tack and drifting duty.

Ah, don't get me wrong, those were great cars from a technical standpoint, but inextricably associated with the worst a-holes where I grew up... so much so that I still haven't warmed back up to German brands to this day, and the few I drove felt a bit sterile to me, all calculated, little to no drama. These new BMW M cars or Audis are way too expensive anyway. (Speaking of which, the 2024 ZL1 CE is much too expensive as well, especially with the markups .)
