The ZL1 is extremely fun to drive, even at low RPM and when short shifting. I cannot understate this enough. Having boost down low in a v8 will put a smile on your face every time. The LT1 is no slouch either of course, but the upgrade to an LT4 is not just a "peak hp" upgrade.

I came from a 5th gen 2SS 1LE (LS3), and the powerband personalities of the car are dramatically different. I haven't driven a 6th gen SS, so it's not the exact same comparison, but I don't think you would regret making the upgrade.

If your only joy when driving is to hit redline multiple gears in a row, then maybe look elsewhere. My counter-point to that would be that I don't NEED to rev out the entire gear to gain access to the fun power.
^^
This is my view as well

When I ordered my 2022 2SS I could not justify $20k for the ZL1. That said I started adding a few things, Brembo 6 Piston brakes etc. narrowing the price gap. Then my son bought a new 2023 ZL1 M6 in Rapid Blue. What a car! It is hard to compare the cars, like others have said, My son's ZL1 M6 is a monster and you have to be on your toes at all times. My A10 is more of a cruiser which is what I want at my age. I had my monster car with a Corvette Z06 at one time.
Strictly Dollars and Cents, I would say NO.
To go backwards in model years from a 22 to a 19 is not a good move.
And $20k difference has been about the MSRP price difference in the SAME model year.
As others have said I would not buy a used performance car. You know how you have taken care of your 1LE.
You have a lot of warranty left on your 2022 also.
We all have a little buyers remorse and envy of other cars.

What I love is that with 650 foot pounds of torque and cruising at 70 mph down the highway I average 26 mpg, and that’s me being conservative. But when I am using my right foot I can almost watch the gauge drop, the beauty of supercharger.

While I agree with most of what you said, I have ZERO regrets or remorse about my ZL1. I knew EXACTLY what I wanted.

Yeah the ZL1 is absolutely worth it ... the internals of the LT4 are worth it. Modding costs money and it's a ticking time bomb but the SS 1LE is a beautiful thing so buy what you really want until they are gone.

You're better off with a LT1 with the Recaros and fancy brakes as options. Throw on a supercharger and some SS 1LE sized wheels and you'll have just as much fun for way cheaper*. Guys buy the 1LEs and ZL1s and never truly utilize the cars for what they are intended. That said if I had the money, ZL1. Looks amazing and performance is world class.

*didn't actually price it out.

It's the oil pump, not the fuel pump. And don't worry about it with a 2019.

My suggestion: Go for a drive in the ZL1. If it makes you giggle like a schoolgirl, buy it. VERY FEW cars have ever made me giggle like The Mistress.

Might be worth it in NC, but in my area of bumper to bumper traffic every time I leave my development its not worth it. My car is a 17 SS 6 speed and the only time I can wind it out is when hitting exit ramps. But it is still fun feeling that low end tq punching gears from stop light to stop light.
