Muscle car article [**ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS**]

I saw this in the paper this morning about muscle cars going to the grave.
I thought I’d post it if anybody is interested. Alot of Mustang orders , I wonder if they’ll be alot of Camaro orders to.

Premium V8 pony cars die you run a model for 9 years without significant changes, don't advertise it and take a knee to the EV pushers. Good for Ford (even though I'd never drive one)

These companies are pushing EVs and customers are rejecting their push. Ford itself lost billions on their EVs yet the big 3 are going forward with their washing machines. Good luck to them!

We were just discussing something along these lines with gpskinzhut the other day. He would love to slap two small electric motors onto the front wheels, just to help with traction at launch.

Not a bad idea at all, even though it'd make the front even heavier, but the small battery to power these baby front motors could be placed in the rear to compensate.

Electric will be fine at the end of the decade, Toyota is pushing through with the new battery tech that has 600+ range and charges MANY times faster, and the Toyoda family leader has been taking them back to making fun and sports cars again. I think they will be the Model T (assembly line) of electric cars, the ones to cross the threshold of it being normal.

I keep hoping Americans will wake up soon and realize that the climate change cult is all about control. Controlling what kind of car you can drive, what kind of appliances you can own, where you can live, what you can say, etc. Interesting how the biggest proponents of this climate religion are the biggest hypocrites and do the exact opposite of what they preach. After 2024, unless we chose right, there really will be no turning back from this lunacy.

That’s the new ‘segment’ of performance.

Honda made its mark with the NSX (twin-turbo v6 and three electric motors)

E-Ray has the v8 and single front electric motor

Lambo Reveulto has its v12 and three total electric motors (two in the front, one rear same layout as NSX I believe)

I’m sure there’s more but the similarity it seems is better handling vs non-hybrid powertrain and seemingly significantly faster then the non-hybrid variants as the estimated 0-60 for the E-Ray is as fast and technically faster then the Z06 by 0.1 seconds (plus a hefty price )

The new Mazda Miata is also rumored to be a hybrid. As soon as the battery density is there, they will all go plug-in and then regulations problem solved.

The regulators won't go away. This has been discussed here before.
They will crack down on high hp evs. You know, draining the battery too fast and all . . .

Then there are the insurance companies. They will cancel ice coverage in the name of esg. In fact, that just happened to me after owning a zl1 for 3 weeks and already being covered under a plan. High performance ice vehicles are now verboten. Expect it to spread.

Cars are supposed to burn gas and make noise. You’re also supposed to be able to shift gears of a transmission if you so chose.

All if that goes away with EVs and they become appliances. The soul, spirit, and fun of a car is gone. Spin it any way the EV folks want, there’s zero about an EV that’s fun. It’s fast. Oh wow. Hey they were doing 200 mph in NASCAR in 1970.

EVs are appliances. I ain’t dead yet. I don’t want to drive an appliance.

A ERay based Camaro SS would be amazing if they can get the price down. I’d get down with that in a heart beat.

Yeah, I think the e-ray is 40k more than the stingray. Hard pill to swallow.

sure, but how much cheaper is an E-ray than a Porsche 918.

My PHEV X5 is already superior to the straight ICE equivalent. With the exception of a slight sacrifice to payload and towing (batteries are still heavy). The benefits easily justify that though, and with .gov incentives it was cheaper than the straight ICE version as well. Benefits like carpool lane access.

Why is that? Well .gov wrote the regulations so that if a vehicle is capable of X amount of EV only miles it counts as an EV. This is how ICE will continue into the future (IMO), as a plug-in hybrid. ICE when you need it, ICE + Electric when you want it (all the torque), EV when it makes sense.
