From plant to dealer, how much is done by rail?

So my order will be from the plant in MI to northeast AL.
Where is the rail pick up point and offload ???
Just wondering what % of the journey is truck and what % is rail??

FWIW I am in Omaha, Nebraska and mine went from Lansing to Chicago by truck, then rail from Chicago to St. Louis, then to Kansas City, then truck from Kansas City to Omaha. I'm sure each route has different percentages of truck/rail but that was mine's journey..

It depends on where your dealer is located and how close it is to a rail facility. Most vehicles heading south are going to be trucked from the plant to a rail facility about an hour away and then from there travel by train to the rail car depo closest to your dealer. From there the car will generally be trucked again to the dealership. My guess is 70% or more of the trip to AL will be on a train.

My car traveled by truck to the train depo in MI, then by train to a rail depo near Columbia SC and then was trucked to the dealership from there.

Mine went from Lansing Grand River to where ever they apply the stripes.
Then to New Boston, MI railhead.
Then to Nashville.
By truck to Decatur, AL.

Greetings from the TN Valley. I would suspect only one with connections at GM or someone with direct knowledge of Camaros being transported on rail could give you that info. Good luck and welcome to the family. Hope you get your car in a timely manner
