Unhappy Break in Period

I just got a brand new 2018 2ss with 2 miles on it. I know there was a real in period but a couple of times i really got on it and I am at 500 miles now. I want to know if there is anything I could have seriously done to damage the car since i didn’t wait until 1500 miles. Thanks! ps some of the paint chipped off of my door when I opened it and it hit my other car so if there are any easy fixes to cover that up let me know!

You are gonna get a lot of differing opinions on this. I personally broke mine in hard and it runs noticeably stronger than my cousins 2012. I think you'll be just fine imho.

Time to start over. I'll take that one off your hands.

RIP Camaro.

Plus you never know who got on it at the dealership when they did their pre purchase inspection check list.

I wouldn't sweat it. You have a warranty anyways and if you don't plan on keeping it for long there's no point stressing about it. Some people recommend hammering it in the start too at times. Just take care of her well and you'll be gucci saleyo

I personally waited until after my first oil change and also had my rear diff changed and that was at about 800 miles. Then once it got over 1k I slowly started driving it harder. You will get so many opinions on it. I wouldn't worry!!

Drive it like it's meant to be driven, break it periods are bogus and there for the lawyers. I didn't break mine it and it's pushing 600whp and running strong.

I got my 1LE new from the dealership with like 87 miles on it. Normally, I would have passed and gotten one with fewer miles, but it was the only HBM in the area, and the 0% was expiring that day. I'm guessing those were the hardest 87 miles the car will ever see, LOL, but it runs like a champ right now. I'm gonna change the oil at 1500 miles, also.

first 600 miles I did mixed driving, stayed off the freeway (mostly) and drove through the kettle marine (hilly area in Wisconsin); varied loads, speeds and didn't drive the car like a *****. oil change then started beating on it. You want to break in the motor for how you drive it. You want the rings to seat, the bearings to get to know one another and the cam to break in.

break in period; stay off the freeway mostly (a little is good). Don't ***** it too much, and don't be afraid to get on it a bit. mixed loading. And fresh oil.

I blew a 6-4 shift into 2 on my test drive...hardly a gentle start.

Stuck pretty much with the recommendations until the first oil change then just drove normal. Cars, boats, guns, etc. - they’re tools and meant to be used.

I followed the 1500 break in period. As for the chip, I would recommend Dr. Colorchip.

My car currently has 3700 on her. I am seeing people changing their rear diff fluid. I do not track my car. but should I have it changed? is it necessary??
