Why are aftermarket exhausts SO FREAKING expensive for these cars?

Hi,

I remember on my 5th gen I did a good catback on it fully installed for less than $1000. And on my older cars, even less.

Now, I don't want to name any names, so let's just called this company "Berla".

Now you got the Berla selling for $2200 USD (or $2750 CAD...)....Are you kidding me? For something that is literally just SOUND?

I did Headers and High flow cats for less than that.

Sorry, that's the end of my rant.

Yep, prices are crazy! My 5th Gen was much cheaper too, but it was a manual. Now with my A8 6th Gen, I have the AFM valves and the NPP valves!!! I guess they feel they charge an arm and a leg for those valves! If you’re looking to keep those functions intact, I honestly think the FlowMaster systems are the best value. Plus, send a PM to Juiced1 from Juiced Motorsports, he’ll give you the best deal on whatever it is you’re looking for!

Although, I don’t know how shipping to Canada might affect those good deals!?!?

We offer a number of reasonably priced Axle-back exhaust systems for the 6th gen Camaro. Since our Axle-back systems are designed to clamp onto the stock exhaust, the lack of additional piping helps to keep our prices low while delivering real world performance gains. We also offer our Scavenger Series X-Pipe Kit which replaces the factory crossover with larger 3 inch pipes. And when used in conjunction with our Axle-back system you are getting the performance of a full Cat-back without paying the extravagant costs associated with some Cat-back systems. If you are in the market for a new muffler, Cat-back or Axle-back option please give us a call at 707-544-4761.

Welcome to my world. I made peace with buying an exhaust and decided to do something custom instead. Other users have done it as well, do a search for "custom NPP exhaust" and you'll find a few brave souls. From the axle back just cut out the tips which contains the valves and throw it on whatever system you chop up. You'll spend a fraction of the price. Normally it's recommended to have a J-Pipe as well to battle drone.

Personally I'm planning on making a design similar to MBRP with a J-pipe before the Y split and my 'quiet' side with a flowmaster outlaw muffler or super 44s. And then my loud NPP side to be straight pipe. Just find a decent place.

If you really want to buy a full on system. Flowmaster is the most reasonable. Especially their X pipe.

It'll effect it big time. We'll get charged duties and taxes on the import. And if it's being shipped in via UPS or FedEx, they throw in their own charges. Last time I got a car part sent in I paid half the price in duties alones.

Will the flowmaster bolt up to stock system with a stainless works muffler? Sw slides over the stock piping.

They definitely will. Cat back exhaust has nothing to do with CARB. I ordered mine from Phastek just fine.

You tried to buy this correct?
https://www.phastekperformance.com/M...st-s7033al.htm

That makes no sense.

Hey Mark, I can verify that Phastek won’t ship to Cali anymore. He said this was put in effect very recently. I didn’t have any issues getting my exhaust, but I guess now it’s a problem..
