I’ve played with a couple of GT500s on the street (with no traffic) at speeds below 65 mph and we’ve been neck and neck. We’re both traction limited at lower speeds anyway. I’m not saying the ZL1 has a better engine or blower or anything, just that the ZL1 is a better overall platform from the factory because with 110 less horsepower it keeps up with the much more powerful GT500 on a track (and for a few seconds, in the straights), due to a better engineered chassis, 250 less pounds, better weight distribution, and better overall engineering of the suspension. But yes, the predator engine has a ton of potential with the better/bigger blower and much better intercooling.

All good points. Like I said, really depends what you’re looking to do with the car. But I still feel the LT5 in the ZL1 would have been the perfect comeback to the GT500. Equal power and the better chassis…now we’re rocking.

Heh, even my lowly 735 rwhp kicks out from a dig or slow rolls like there's no tomorrow, can't imagine what 1059 rwhp does, Nitto tires or not...

I dial down the boost controller for street use and save the shenanigans for the track.

This! In a vacuum, I love the Mach 1 / Dark Horse cars. But not at, or just shy of, ZL1 prices, no way.

With the ZL1 being discontinued, that choice will no longer be an option. If you want a new muscle car in 2025, 2026, 2027… at least Ford is providing an option. With stock longblock Gen3 Coyotes in the 8’s, be interesting to see what the Gen4 can do. I’ll take that option over the middle finger that GM is giving us.

I watched this link earlier and I’m taking their dyno numbers with a grain of salt since there was clearly something up with the dyno as the torque numbers were really weird.

They force you to buy the Performance package with 3.55 or else you'll be slow, even if the power is there. Having the 10 speed, I don't think it adds gas mileage to have longer gears. It's just there to upsell the Performance package. Adding to the discussion, I think the negativity for the 24' mustang comes from the Price itself. Nobody would be complaining so much if the GT started at 36k-38k like it used to be. |

2015 Mustang GT Premium MSRP - $38,415
Accounting for inflation that's $50,466 in Aug '23 dollars. So. . . ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
