Acdelco oil filter owners.

Hello,

I went to pick up an oil filter from Walmart today. I decided to look at inside of filter but looks not so clean inside of filter. I looked at other brands as well but looks pretty clean built. I just picked up M1-113A instead of OEM. Check yours before pick up your oil filter.

Im sure its fine but i didnt feel like using it on mine.

I couldnt get good photo but i just go ahead throw it here.

What's not clean about it? Did metal or dirt fall out of it?

No, i think its just built quality. Looked like its some glue or weld. All of their PF64 was like that.

That’s the reason I use a Mobil 1 or Napa Gold filter for oil changes. I have used a K&N a couple of times but mostly the 2 above. The quality with the AC filters is not that great and I really don’t know why people use them. Guess because they are cheaper than the Mobil 1 and K&N.

I've used Delco filters for 20 years and have never had a problem.

There are tons of good filters out there however the PF64 filter has a 22 psi bypass and the PF48 has a 15 psi bypass. If you are going to use a filter other than the AC, call the manufacturer and make sure that it has the correct bypass of 22psi. The filters are basically identical from the outside and most aftermarket designs were based on the PF48.

There was a PDF from GM on here somewhere stating that your warranty could be voided for an engine oil system failure if you use the wrong filter. I'll see if I can find it.

These are oil filters that come in an unsealed cardboard boxes. All oil filters can end up with dirt specs in them like that. Not a big deal. As mentioned above its much more important to be sure the correct bypass valve psi is correct than have a sparkly name brand filter. Remember your car's engine was tested and built to work hand in hand with the flow and filtration characteristics of the OEM A/C Delco filter.

Ultra guard are very nice filters and very widely available. All of the analysis and cross-sectional testing I've ever seen on bobistheoilguy and others have backed that up.

you do have to watch out though when buying any filters (especially from walmart) as it's common practice for people to return used filters or even swap filters in boxes to get expensive ones for cheaper. Always open and inspect before you buy.
