Historically and more recently the GT350 was the track car.
I believe this GT500 will attempt to be more track capable than the previous GT500s but at 4200lbs I don't believe the GT500 will be a great track car. I have no concerns about it being a better track car than my ZL1 1LE but it will likely be a better 1/4 mile car.

Just my guesses
And the ZL1 historically was a drag car lol.

Seriously though, Ford has totally rethought what it means to enter this market segment (super high performance domestics), and definitely targeted a new metric. Even that line in the video above about the base model being the "drag car", that's just lip service, there's no drag specific design (like the Demon or more recent Drag Pack from FCA), it's a drag car by way of being high output, having electronic launch/suspension modes and an incredible fast shifting transmission.

We're all sort of guessing at this point, though there are some channels with people ITK, speaking "off the record" that hinted at a few stats, and they're definitely not what's being discussed in this thread If they're correct, people are going to be floored by the track performance.
I think the "base" GT500 is the drag car option because it doesn't have nay extreme aero that would slow it down.

You're right. If the ZL1 can evolve, why not the GT500

Thoughts on HP Bump to Combat the GT500

Going to be funny when GM drops the LT5 and CCB in the ZLE package and names it the Z28./GT500 Killer.

Or let’s not drag the Z28 name back through the mud and call it something else.

That’s what I am waiting for. GM is going to respond to the GT500.

GM will respond but not until the next gen camaro for sure. They have to realize that the small blower and lack of fuel system is the limiting factor. Increase the fuel system and a 2.3 blower and it’ll be rocking for sure.

For the discussion of pricing and ADM on GT500..... just came across this. I know in the video you don't get to hear the conversation between the "buyer" and the salesman. I would say take it for what it is.

We're only at year 4 of the current generation. The head of Team Camaro is stated that it's not going anywhere, anytime soon.

Apparently, we aren't the only ones discussing motor swaps. Full disclosure: I have not watched this video yet.
