Paint for engine bay
Hey guys. So I wanted to try some DIY engine bay dress up. I have a lot of paint and plastidip, which I have seen work fine on many pieces in the engine bay on other cars. I just have the V6 and I don't track it so it never gets too crazy hot.
My question is, will regular paint/plastidip still work under the hood or do I need to go buy high heat engine paint? I only have that in black right now but wanted to do some black/red splatter paint to make it unique. I wanted to do this on the engine cover, fuse box cover, and air box cover. I was thinking plastidip so it can be removed if I change my mind later on. Any thoughts?

Interested in this as well. I am going another route (hydro dip) but it requires a base paint first then clear coat. My thoughts would it should be fine on the plastics as those are not getting too hot.

I was considering hydro dipping as well but I enjoy the DIY part and the only place around me I know can get pretty expensive, pretty fast. I will do the airbox and fuse box in plastidip first and see how that goes. I still have a few interior pieces to get started on this weekend as well.

Regular spray paint will be fine on plastics.
I have my valve cover covers painted with 10 coats of normal satin white spray paint. It says on the can "binds to plastic" and 2x coverage. Then i used a red paint pen and repainted the letters on the "CAMARO" of each side. Seems to be holding up nicely with no flake or cracking. Hope this helps!
