That's probably because Magnuson's pushed the intercoolers off to the sides of the rotors.

So - like the LT5's intercooler bricks are up inside the lid, but off to the sides of the rotor-outlet. The air exiting the rotors shoots straight-up, hits the inside of the supercharger lid, then is deflected to the driver and passenger's sides. The air then goes into the intercoolers, before down into the intake ports that lead into the cylinder heads. If you look at the BAS from the front, it doesn't look like the sides of the blower extend much over the valvecovers, which is why it is so tall; it is tall instead of wide, hence why it pokes out of ZR1's hood.

It looks like Maggy's done something similar, but made the 2650R wider instead of taller. LT5 is like 3.5"-ish taller than the tall-LT4 lid (on ZL1), so in order for Maggy to keep the height shorter, the lid is squished lower than LT5, but probably still a touch higher than LT4. Air leaving the rotors hits the inside of the lid (like LT5), then makes the same turn (different radius I'm sure) as the LT5, but the intercooler bricks are pushed out above the coils and valvecovers; so the 2650R is actually wider than LT5's blower (again - and also shorter).

What I'm trying to say is the height of the Maggy is probably lower than LT5, but it has to be wider because it is lower. The air in these TVS-blowers (Edelbrock, LT5) is discharged from the rotors upward, so all of these blowers have to bounce the charge-air down, off the inside (bottom, if you will) of the blower lid. (Harrop makes one that blows down, but it is taller, because the blower sits on top of the intercooler and manifold assembly)
The air, then, bounces off the lid and shoots (right and left) into the intercooler bricks (Edelbrock has the single common brick right above the discharge port).
From the bricks, the air then goes down the intake ports to the heads. So - because the Maggy is wider, the supercharger body is squished flatter, above the valvecovers. Because it's flatter, and the valvecovers are tall on LT's, it's necessary to replace the valvecovers with shorter ones, and relocate the coils. I wonder if Katech-type covers will work... The Edelbrock is pictured below. It is probably taller than the Maggy, because the Edelbrock requires trimming the hood (see the cool thread: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showt...=544558&page=2). That's a huge-@$$ intercooler though!!!

If the power goals are lower, let's say 600-700whp, is there an advantage to this unit vs the 2300 in terms of IATs and general cooling? Is it significantly heavier than the 2300?

Coil relocation is required as the intercoolers move outward to keep the overall package really low - this unit fits under the hood of not just a camaro, but under the stock hood of the C7 corvette with no other modifications but the valve covers. The systems the same intercooler volume and performance as what we used in the production 2019 COPO Camaro TVS 2650 (which have run mid 7s).

No real advantage at that power level. The 2300 is the right choice in my opinion up to the 850-900 RWHP level, above that, the 2650 starts to shine.

The 2650 does weigh more and cost more than the 2300, but it does offer a higher potential for those that always want to push the limit.
