Hagerty Collectible Insurance for ZL1

I've seen many people discuss on social media groups about getting insurance for their ZL1 through Hagerty for <$100/mo (some near $80/mo). I can't figure out how to get a quote so low and they never respond to questions about it. Do we have to put in specific numbers/selections to get the quote lower? I am getting quoted $135/mo which is only slightly better than what I currently pay through State Farm.

Could someone who is currently using Hagerty and paying <$100/mo chime in and let me know what I'm missing?

They quoted me for $149 a month for 2019 ZL1, driven 2k miles per year and I'm 45-years old.

Edit: If I add 1k deductibles it drops down to $120.

Edit#2: If you have multiple vehicles with them, it drops down more.

Insurance has many moving parts. Amount of liability coverage, uninsured motorist coverage, deductible amounts, driving history (tickets), accident history, zip code you park the car in, how many miles you drive per year, value of car, medical payments, number of vehicles insured, etc.

The key is to get coverage that insures you for your risks and how you want to be covered. If you want to get any insurance bill down, you simply have to buy less insurance, have higher deductibles, and drive less.

Thanks for the info. I added my Challenger and put $500 deductible on them both which puts me at around $180/month for both. That is way better than the $280 I'm currently paying!

Has anyone filed a claim with Hagerty? Curious if they are as reliable as State Farm.

Priced in Q4 2017 for my car:
Grundy $1100ish /yr vs. Hagerty $1300ish /yr

Both were $75k agreed-value policy with similar terms: <5k mi/yr, shows and cruises only, no work, no school, no grocery trips, etc.

Compare to 100% replacement coverage with Mercury for $1500 with no restrictions. I stayed with Mercury.

I have Grundy on two cars (1969 Camaro and 2009 ZR1). I just looked through my policy and there is no mention of mileage restrictions nor limitations on use other than racing events. I have 30K on the camaro (need to up it) and 71K on the ZR1. My premium was $1219/year for both.

I searched the PDF for "5000" "limits" (pertained only to $ coverage) and some other terms and came up with nothing.

I then called Grundy and without them asking for my name or policy information, they told me there is no mileage limitations in their policies. The example I was given if you drive your vehicle to car shows you are not limited any particular state/region, etc. You can drive from NY to CA for a show if you want.

I have both the Stingray and ZL1 insured with American Modern through the National Corvette Museum. I pay about $1500/year for both.

I also use American Modern and I have excellent coverage at a great rate. Besides driving record, the biggest factors are the agreed upon replacement value and annual miles driven. It has to be a secondary vehicle.

There's an "estimated annual mileage" box on my old quote from 2017 so I must have mistaken that to be a limit. Maybe they don't do that anymore...?

Thanks for clarifying.

No problem. You had me worried as I didn't remember seeing any limitations like that. Not that I plan on either being a daily at all. I am, however, limited to 1000 miles a year on the historic plates I have on the Camaro. Missouri (and probably other states) will allow a year of manufacture plate on a historic vehicle. So I found a 1969 plate on ebay a couple years ago and put on it.

Here in NJ you are pretty much screwed regardless of who you insure with.

i'm gonna give Hagerty a look over the weekend. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't provide insurance for those of us here in NJ.

One of the reasons why this state sucks...... expensive to insure cars.

I had Grundy on my 2014 Mustang GT and now on my 18 ZL1 1LE. The rates are about $1000 a year, give or take. You have to have a daily driven vehicle (In my case a Camry) and have 100/300 minimums.
