I'm not sure this is good... ESC - Rear Axle System off...
WOW, something is MAJORLY WRONG! I went to data log my 2023 ZL1 about a half hour ago. This was after repairing several exhaust leaks that I think were causing my O2 sensors and AFR sensor to have slightly false readings. The other day, I had the car idling with zero problems a few different times to double check where the exhaust leaks were. I shut it off and then yesterday fixed the exhaust leaks but didn't start it all yesterday.
Then today just now, I go out to start the car and it was so weird from the first push of the button. I pushed the start button, and it turned over kind of quick and the just stopped. Kind of as if I let off the button too soon (but I don't think I did). Then tried again and it started, but it was weird immediately. The car was in touring mode, but the exhaust values were randomly open and then close again all on their own, it did this several times. So, I shut it off, restarted it and again it was really weird. The dash light up then went blank a few times and then stayed on. I shut if off again. Tried to started it but nothing, then I literally open the drivers door to get out of the car and it it started, kind of as if it was a delayed start from trying before opening my door. I shut if off again and restarted it. The dash was on immediately but the gauges jumped around weird, randomly (but all gauges were in sync), and then came to settle at no readings and the attached screen: [Rear Alex System Off], then a few seconds later [ECU], [Service] light on the entire time. [EDIT] Forgot to mention that I did try and drive it around the block and it acted like it was in limp mode and quickly I saw something on the dash that said "teenage" driver" But didn't catch the whole thing. I saw this threat (https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=597023 ) Not sure how mine would go to the same issues as the other thread as it's not been driven, like at all. Any ideas? I would take it in to a dealership and let them figure it out under warranty. Hopefully there is one around you that is trustworthy and capable.
Somewhat related, prior to buying my 2018, back in NJ, part of my research was "probing" service departments of local dealerships, seeing the quality of their work and their attitude on small jobs, with boring mundane cars (used my wife's SUV for the most part). I then did the same when we moved to Tennessee. In both cases I found local gems that I feel perfectly fine asking for help with my forever Camaro. I think this sort of "sleuthing" is worth at least considering, unless you are capable and equipped to fix most or all potential issues (I am clearly not).

I would disconnect the battery and let it sit a while. Myself I would leave it an hour unhooked. Everything these days have so many modules and crap that I often see computer systems glitch out and give weird codes or operate weird. No starts. Trouble codes for all sorts of crap totally unrelated to each other.
First thing I do…..disconnect the battery or shut the battery switch off if it has one. I leave it for a bit and way more often than not the problems disappear. I fix heavy equipment for a living but also help with the fleet of trucks, vans and SUVs. I would start with that. |

Get it to the dealership and let them check it out since it’s still under warranty unless you have done major mods to your car.

So a quick update: I did unhook the battery for about 10 minutes. Nothing different so it's unhooked now and will stay that wait until tomorrow evening. I decided to unplug all gauges that connect to the ODB2 port and presto. When I unhooked the AEM AFR wideband gauge, most all the issues went away. But, the car will not allow manual shifting (dos this have something to do with the message I saw about teenage driver?). When I try to use manual shift, it just continues to read "D" on the dash. Could there be something glitched with the AEM wideband gauge causing all these issues. That seems so weird. But to test, I connected it back and sure as anything all the issues came back. I disconnected it and the messages went away.

"Major mods... YES... "
https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=611982 Also, fob #2 worked normal, meaning the car allowed manual shift with the 2nd key fob. so i think i must have jammed the car into valet and or teen driving mode with fob #1 somehow. I will keep battery unplugged over night and call AEM about what could be wrong with the AWE AFR gauge sensor. Last edited by 2023_ZL1-AUTO; 03-26-2023 at 03:06 PM. Reason: left off info of ediot |

A lot of issues when people start to mod is electrical. Your issue is going to not be with the gauge but hope it was wired.
People run into the same problem by simply changing our the back up lights to something brighter but don't install a resistor or try to splice into another wire for power. |

So this is what I was freaking out about... This is when the AEM AWE AFR is connected to the OBD2 port, but I disconnected it, reset the DTC codes and now no check engine and no codes:

Quick update: I picked up a new AEM AFR UEGO kit tonight from Jegs and put my ZL1 on the QuickJacks. I decided to replace every thing, including the wiring harnesses etc. But thank goodness I went under the car first. I immediately notices that two wires on the AFR O2 sensor pig tail were nicked and they looked to be shorting out against each other. I replace the sensor and reconnected to the wires already ran and presto! All seems good and the AFR gauge is "acting" normal. Meaning, when I have the car in accessory mode the gauge cycles from 8 to 20 and then comes to rest like @ 15.75 (car is not on), I'm letting exhaust cool down to tight blots. Tomorrow I hope everything is will work out so I can get a good data log and have Andrew at CSP continue the tuning process!
