I drove GTRs from 2013 to 2020 and never got more than 15k miles on Michelin's 4S. I doubt I get 12k on 4S on this car.

You do not need to stick to runflat tires, in fact, I thoroughly enjoy the superior ride and near-zero tire noise from the Michelin PS4S.

Quality tires for this car are not cheap, but if you drive the car all year long, you'll be much better off with all seasons that have a 500+ treadwear rating, those are cheaper and will last you very long given your laid back driving style.

A few inquiries though. You mentioned finding square tires for rotation purposes. How can I tell the difference, speaking on Tire Rack specifically. Also, can I not have any tires I buy rotated, or is this a C6 specific thing?

And the 300kmi/100UTQG thing was just a random Google result reading, I didn't buy much stock into it. However, I do pay attention to the rating when purchasing, and I typically buy higher rating tires for longevity reasons, and that has paid off pretty consistently.

I'm leaning towards the non RF tires because of this - that $800 set has a rating of 560. If I can get more than a year out of those, then I'll deal with my good insurance if I have a tire issue.

I'm also gonna re-search the tires forum section for more tire recommendations. I can't be the only commuter who's trying to Penny pinch.
So the stock wheels/tires on the Camaro SS are 245/40/20 front and 275/35/20 rears. Which means unable to rotate front to back like many cars.
Square tires means running the same size wheels and tires on all four corners. Apex Race Parts has decent quality Camaro specific wheels.

https://support.apexraceparts.com/hc...-Fitment-Guide

Tires are not much cheaper, but the ability to rotate may mean longer tire life. You're on the right track on UTQG numbers. Higher numbers generally means longer tire life.

What's the tires that are on your short list so far? I like the General G-MAX AS-05.

I keep seeing the PS4S recommended, so considering those. But most of my considerations come from my search on TR.
CONTINENTAL
EXTREMECONTACT DWS 06
Ultra High Performance All-Season
This is what I'm also considering, primarily.

If you want a good tire on that is affordable look at the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500's.

Is Firestone a good brand? What's the mileage like on those?

The Indy 500 have been very well reviewed. There's no mileage warranty on those, like most UHP Summer tires.

I would expect 15-20k miles with no rotation. for 800.00 a set you can afford to change them yearly. They are great tires for the money. I have put them on other rides I have owned and liked them. Right now I have Nitto 555 G2 front and 555r2 rear and they are great. You could do G2's all around for daily driving but I believe the Firehawks will have better dry traction on the rear. If I didn't run a drag radial on the rear I would probably go with the Firehawks. Michelin stuff is overpriced imo.

You guys are recommending UHP summer tires for a stock SS, not sure the OP wants to drive on those in 40-45 degree weather in Ocean Springs. IMO he'd be better off with the Conti DWS or another quality all-season tire.

Well, I was a few clicks away from a purchase. I'm putting all opinions/suggestions into serious consideration.

Someone else had recommended to just shop for some good all-season tires. Are these Indy 500 bad for cold weather driving?

(now is when I completely admit I have zero reference for tire results in summer vs winter, especially with this monster V8 in question - as far as cars, I've only ever had, like, Corolla... &#128514

Well The Goodyear F1 ASM3 Run flat is what comes on the SS stock and that is a UHP summer tire. I have had no issues driving on a Summer tire in 40-45 degree weather. I wouldn't consider it be much of a issue unless the car sat out in below freezing weather for extended periods of time. If that is the case then All seasons would be best.

Well I can assure you, she won't be sitting at all. 6 days a week she'll be in the roads, be it to work or to to eat an hour away. It does periodically get down to the 30s here during winter, and a couple times down in the 20s. But nowhere near as often/much as Northern states are we under "freezing" temps down here.

If that is the case then I would have no worries about running the Firehawk's...now if you get periods of inclement weather in the winter and you drive in it, then a All Season would be better. That being said when my car was stock and on the factory tires I drove it plenty in 28-40 degree weather in late fall until the first snow hit then the car gets put away for winter.

For your situation, not a heavy foot and tire budget-conscious, I would recommend either the Continental DWS 06, Michelin a/s 3+, or Michelin All Season 4 (the brand new version of the a/s 3+). Those are the top performance all seasons, and I honestly wouldn't bother with anything else in the category. You'll give up some performance as compared to summer only, but the increased tire life and better road manners will be good things for you.
