Using OBD2 data to evaluate used car price?
Hi!
I've been reading a lot about how to sell a used Camaro and it seems like there are fundamental questions to be answered, such as mileage, number of oil changes, accidents that affect the price of the car but still leaves room for doubt such as is this a track car or a garage Queen? Has anyone thought about using vehicle diagnostics from the Onboard Diagnostics 2 system to provide additional attributes of your car's overall health? Simple scanners can present data about the vehicle engine's RPM, coolant, and air temperature, camshaft and crankshaft position, throttle, and road speed. Would this be helpful information when buying/selling a used Camaro? |

You need dealer type tools to get any more data than RPM, mass air flow, coolant temp, etc. No consumer type tools let you access over rev(something that porsche stores), recorded oil reset intervals(if that is even recorded), etc.
