The original replacement was not a warranty replacement. I had a crash where I ran over a huge rock. The exhaust was dented by the rock, so it was replaced as an insurance claim.

That X-Pipe is not OEM.

The rust thru looks strange, almost like it was "eaten" or dissolved.

Just to close this situation, I missed the dealership's phone call but they never called back.
I went to a local shop and had him weld the original piece back in for $85.

Thats weird. I got a buddy with a 17 SS in Michigan daily driver even in the winter on salty roads and he's probably only washed it 2 times since he bought it new and I asked him to check his out and he said his is fine.

OK - the section that was replaced "appears" to be replaced with regular pipe, NOT SS.

Agree that is the OEM X pipe.

Looks like they were repeatedly scraped on something and they wore through. Maybe you were bottoming out somewhere everyday on the way to work? Thats 304 stainless, and it doesnt rust.

Thats the low spot in what was standard probably at the best galvanized steel, never drove it enough to dry it out; short trips possibly. Water pooled there and easily corroded until it failed.

Final update on this for those who are interested. The dealer, Suburban Chevrolet in Ann Arbor, Michigan completely ghosted me on this. They never returned my calls and never offered any kind of fix. I've been unhappy with every other service they provided on my car, so I expected nothing less.

I found a local shop who cleaned it up and re-welded the original piece back in for $80.

I would have them go through the whole exhaust, and make sure all of the hangers and brackets are in place. For a piece like that to come off in the way that it did my suspicion would be that there is excessive Flex or movement in the exhaust system that fatigued and broke them loose.

I would contact GM right away and let them know everything. Don't give up.

I am having same issue with my car, although my bracket didn't come completely off like yours, just cracked along the aft end of the right weld. Got a terrible rattle and exhaust leak. Took it to the dealership in May, they said they had to order new bracket. They still haven't gotten it in yet, or done anything. Called GM customer support to see if they could expedite the process or help in any other way, and they have been basically useless
