What's interesting is Ford set the 5th gen Z/28 as the benchmark for the R. That's amazing to me. It won that head 2 head and Ford probably felt "Mission Accomplished," on a last gen car that was going out of production. The ADM that dealers are charging, the allocation games that Ford is playing and the heat issue less I am enamored with the GT350. |

Both have now fixed it, or I guess the fix is about to be revealed for the new Z06. I am very excited to see what the 1LE does v the GT350, but I don't get how some people act like whatever the outcome is that it will somehow diminish the value or allure of the GT350. It is a one of a kind car, with a one of a kind engine. I do think it is overpriced, but that has nothing to do with the 1LE or anything GM will be offering in the future.

Carlos Lagos just put out a video of the GT350R figure 8 test on MT On Demand. He suggests the Camaro SS 1LE puts the power down better accelerating out of a corner.

This is basically what Carlos said about the GT350R.
"The exit is not as controlled as the Camaro 1LE, which is another car I drove today. That diff does a better job getting you off the corner with a lot of speed. This you're having to do a little correction on oversteer to correct that. You have to do a little more careful throttle modulation to come out of the corner cleanly. This thing will do a big sideways as I experienced. That was a pretty shocking and quick amount of slide this car did." He's referring to almost spinning it on one of the first laps. |

$56,495 with destination charge and after the GG tax it will probably move up to $58,000 starting, though not like it matters as they are in high demand with huge markups.
Aside any value aspect of buying a performance car the GT350 is a cool car and deserves to do well on the market. though when you consider that a $45,000 1LE Camaro performs about the same as a $58,000 GT350.... |

I think some are beating up the Z28 because of it's price, but when the magazines compared the Z to GT3s and GT-Rs, it's price seemed very reasonable. Everyone knows that Ford and Chevy bench mark the opponent's cars and build their newest models to exceed wherever possible. At the time, the Z28 was a performance bargain, when other cars began to compete very well, car buyers weren't interested in paying that much for an "older" version such as the Z.
I believe the 1LE will compete very well with the GT350 and I believe the ZL1 will kill the GT350R. Then, the Shelby GT500 will kill the ZL1 and we'll have to see what happens after that. The Mustang guys will still pay big bucks for a Shelby regardless of it's comparative performance to a Camaro (I'm trying to figure out what makes this a Shelby since he's long gone).
