It happens all the time. Not unlike we here on C5 talk to people (though we actually meet in person a lot) and get to know them in a sense. So when someone goes through a hard time it is not out of the ordinary to get attached.

Me and Bonnie fell in love on the phone essentially. Yes, we met for half a day by as a blind date but then we talked on the phone for MONTHS before we got together again and had developed real feelings for one another on the phone.

(OMFG, those were some HUGE ass long distance bills. To the tune of 1200.00 and 1500.00 dollars in two back to back months. IN 1992.... lol )

I'm not a big Notre Dame fan, however I think the media spin on this is just stupid. You know what? Young kids are stupid, even if they are in college and playing football. I know I was, and didn't know half the shit I thought I did at that time.

I have no need for him to come out & speak on this. I saw the story last night where a reporter did interview him, and his story sounds legit. Now, can we drop this story and move back to the NFL...even if my Seahawks are no longer competing. Sigh.

Actually, now, yes.

Back then I broke it off with her. Told her it cost too damn much money. I felt pretty shitty. I was too proud to ask her to help with the bill or to scale it back a bit. She was calling collect every day. Then she came up with a plan to ration our talk time and share the bill. I agreed.

But I feel bad for the guy. Mainly for the reasons you just stated. He's getting a raw deal here. If, of course, he's telling the truth.

I fell for a phone chick once. (of course I was just trying to get some) She never would meet me in person. But of course I wasn't a stud linebacker who had chicks all over me.

Well, it IS weird. And all the interviews he gave with his girlfriend as his inspiration and dedicating the season to her makes it strange to find out.
