Brake Pad Replacement

How long have others found the stock SS's brake pads to last with moderate DD'ing?

I still have my stock brake pads and they still in good standings. I've tracked the car once so far and took it on numerous spirit drives whether its mid-week and/or weekend. Currently at 25K miles at the moment. I am considering changing to get a more track focused brake pad and reduce brake dust a little bit.

I'm at about 64k on the OEM brakes. Still have plenty left but its a DD for me and I'm rarely ever hard on the brakes with the exception of a few spirited drives through the mountains. With that said, when I do replace them, I'll switch to some ceramic pads to cut down on brake dust.

Wow, good to know they last a while if I don't track the car a lot (still have to go, probably go once or twice a year). A friend was curious due to the amount of brake dust (could not imagine any more). Do you have to change rotors with the pads? How much are the oem pads? Is ceramic a lot less brake dust, do they stop better?

I got my 2018 1SS brand new 4/5/2019 with 10 miles on it, now at about 2,200 but my brakes have been squeaking off and on since 1500 miles.. is this unusual should I call the dealership? Thanks

My stock pads lasted about 1k miles before I swapped out to the PowerStop Z26 pads. Absolutely hated the f'ing dust. The ceramics virtually have zero dust on my car.

While I think the Brembo's do have a little more bite, it's hardly a noticeable difference on the street.

Still think it's one of the best things i've done to my car.

on the street they are pretty similiar but on auto x or track you will feel the difference lol some guy had z26s on his car and tracked it and toasted them in like 1 or 2 sessions

I'm at 38k as a DD. Brakes squeal, but that's what you get for the performance. Same with the dust. I have a set of the z26s ready to go when replacement is needed.

This is completely normal for performance breaks.

no, the stock brembo pads don't squeal, generally.
Did you bed the brakes appropriately?

Talking 2016 2SS NPP NAV Yellow

I bought my car April 15th 2016, replaced the brakes and rotors June 15, 2019.
They started making noise a week before I could get them serviced. The dealer said that pads were gone to 10 thousands of an inch in the rear and hitting the metal in the front. I did notice the some scaring. Its my DD 54 miles a day. I had 34000 miles when the brakes were changed to the OEM Brembos. I live in an area where you have to take it to someone for repair.

I'm surprised you've been able to handle the dust that long. I switched mine out after a few thousand miles. I couldn't handle it! lol
