Do you drive the M3 much? I know it is supposed to be faster than the one I had, but I don't like the sound.

I know the Ford Fanboi's say the GT350 "sounds" better than the ZL1 so that is why they buy it even though it is slower.

We complain about the ADM of the GT500 (and GT350R), when in actuality, for that kind of performance, that's where the price should be. No reason to have a bargain base price tag on cars with "supercar" performance metrics.

Would I pay an extra $10K for these cars.. well yes, because at an MSRP of $75-$80k, it's still a bargain
It all makes sense. The equivalent performance version of the Camaro, has always had a considerably lower MSRP than a Corvette.

I was actually looking at GT350's ( like a lot of people). Dealers told me with a straight face I'd have to pay 20K extra for one. I pointed out that the place the price in Z06 territory. When a 1LE could match a GT350 (non R). (Let alone a ZL1.) for considerably less.

I think enthusiasts will pay more to get 95% of a high performance corvette for 60% of the price regardless of the cost.

Sorry I had to.
A Z06 would handle even better. But after all, a Corvette is not superior to a Camaro in every way.

Until it overheats on the track, given the inferior cooling system. Also, the A10 transmission is far superior to the A8 available in the Z06..

come on you two, we already deaded this issue, no more subtle jabs

back to the LT5 in the Camaro.. I know the ZR1 has never shared an engine with the Camaro. But what if GM decides to build a vehicle above the ZL1, but below the C8 .. it takes on a new name and is not called a Camaro but something else, and has the LT5 in it. Possibility or more of a pipe dream.

I will offer the opinion that GM is unlikely to do it, at least for a good while, in that it might detract from the C8. If the C8 is ~$80K for the base model with the LT2 500HP motor (a lot of unknowns still on this statement), then having a 755HP Camaro at ~$90K might take some of the buzz away from the C8. Just my two cents, worth only a single penny in today's economy.

That is a very good point, that I don't think I have seen brought up. It would likely delay an LT5 Camaro if nothing else.

I would say since the front engine rear drive is gone in the corvette, the Camaro is the only one that Chevy has. It seems now that it is VERY possible and soon since the LT5 will never be in the C8. The C8 will only have a overhead cam BlackWing variety that is a small displacement twin turbo V8 which is the way of the world now. The BlackWing is hand built in the Bowling Green Assembly plant which is the Corvette plant.

So you don't like the GT3RS? Seems like the ultimate track weapon bang for buck, if you can afford a $200k car. I can't so I bought the ZLE, the ultimate track car under $75K, and I'm happy.

I like them, but not the sound of them. They are ok in their own 6cyl right, but just not for me. I will take a V8 anyday in a sports car.

I would like the LT4 in a Chevy truck. That would be cool. Since they are putting LT4 in the Escalade, it is time for the LT5 in the Camaro. I will bet $200 the LT5 is going in the Camaro.

Funny you mention the GT3RS, there was one behind me at lunch today downtown and it sounded so incredible. It must have been 3-4 cars behind me and never caught up, was still in awe.

I too would never buy a V6 performance car, but all notions of what I would and would not do go out the window when its a P-Car. The only V6 currently available that I would buy is a Porsche.

Seeing that if GM decides to save the Camaro & the LT5 wouldn't happen till the next Generation (IMO), I think that sort of timeframe about buzzkill with the C8 will be all but gone...what are we looking at for a Gen 7 ZL1, like 2023+/-??

I sure hope GM hits it our of the park with this new C8 & excited for the debut.

Why would you assume the C8 base model would be $80k? They have already stated that the C8 base model will be a stingray, and current base model stingrays MSRP at ~$55k. The switch from front to mid engine and a bump in ~ 55 bhp isn't going to be worth a $25K price tag.

Also, the C8 base model is still very likely to be inferior to the Zl1 now and in the future. With the Zl1 still in existence , I think this negates the idea of an LT5 taking away from the C8 buzz.

If I had to buy a 6cyl and there were no more V8's, then the Porsche is the only 6cyl I would buy, flat or V.
