Called aerospace and was surprised to be told they can and will make small street/strip drag brakes for the 16ss at this time. Does anyone kow anyone else who is making them for the 6th gen? no one has them listed on websites.

Anyone switched to a drag brake setup? looking for some feedback on drivability etc. What rims can be fitted etc

thinking of switching to some small drag brakes all around. Lot of rotating weight do be lost and pick up a tenth or more at the strip id guess. Car only sees drag strip duty and regular street driving. Want to make sure the brakes are livable day to day etc

looks like a rotor has a ratio of about 1.1 and a caliper doesn't spin so it would just be 1.0

with that in mind you wont be getting much added effect just because it is rotational weight. it is still a good question, how much weight can you save going to the light weight stuff. the calcs say i need to loose the equivalent of 110lbs to shave .1, i think getting half a tenth would be difficult with this mod.

THANKS. I also plan on 15 inch wheels which will drop some more. Just hoping for about a tenth with small brakes all around and 15 inch wheels.

I can also save another 4-5 lbs per front rim going to 15x3.5 race stars over the current 17x4.5 I have.

Rear 15 x 10 race stars are 2 lbs lighter each than my 17 x 9.5

Tire weight is the same for the 15s in front. Rear tire weight is about the same depending on options I go with.

On the 5th gen some people reported about 30 lbs loss per wheel with drag brakes depending on brand etc. Along with the lighter front and rear rims im looking at about 130 lbs dropped.

Dumb question...... If you are that concerned about rotational weight, why are you looking at racestars?

I have a Carlyle racing 15" wheel conversion on order... Should be here next week... I can weigh the factory stuff and the Carlyle racing stuff

thanks id like to know. I was just surprised they didn't advertise as much of a loss as others ive seen.

According to the manufacturers the welds are only like 1-2 lbs lighter than the race stars for the 15x3.75. For around twice the price ill pass.

I already have race star 17s. I couldn't stomach the price of welds for a few pounds a corner. I may consider getting welds on the rear depending on the weight difference. These brake kits show huge weight savings IMO

Which welds are you comparing to? There's a big difference in weight between draglites, s71s, and alumnistars.

I have only looked into the s71.

What is the lightest option?

Im not ruling anything out after I go 15s all around anything is possible. Just has to be worth the $ to me.

So the s71, is a part of their street lineup... And it's not even the lightest... The s70 is lighter.

And anything in the drag racing series will be lighter.... I.e. v-series, alumnistars, magnum, etc.

And that's just weld.... There are lots of brands out there.

Well I do drive to the track. So they need to be strong enough to drive on the street safely.

Re read some stuff as that sounded high. 30-40 lbs total for both fronts. So looks like about 15-20 lbs per wheel. Still decent. May get close to a tenth with lighter front wheels

Anyone run these rear brakes with a 15 inch rim/tire combo? Wonder if its worth doing this if i can run 15 rears vs geting a 15 inch conversion kit
